Adhya's POV
The day had finally arrived. I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the delicate gold necklace that hung around my neck. The reflection staring back at me was one of confidence and poise, but deep down, a whirlwind of emotions churned. Today was the day I would face the man who had shattered my life. But today, I wasn't the same woman. I was stronger. And I wasn't alone.
The tension from the encounter with Imtiaz still lingered as, But as soon as I opened the door to the room and saw Advitya standing by the window, the sight of him made everything else fade away. He turned as we entered, his eyes immediately finding mine. There was a softness in his gaze, a warmth that melted away the cold dread that had been building in my chest. I managed a small smile, feeling some of the tension ease.
Jade gave me a reassuring nod before slipping out of the room, leaving the two of us alone. The silence between us was comfortable, familiar. It was in moments like these that I remembered why I could endure all of this. Because of him.
Advitya walked over, his expression a mix of concern and something deeper. Without a word, he cupped my face in his hands, his thumbs brushing gently over my cheeks.
"Are you okay?" he asked softly, his voice laced with worry.
I leaned into his touch, closing my eyes for a moment, letting the warmth of his hands soothe me. "I'm okay," I whispered, though the words felt inadequate. "It's just...seeing him again. It's harder than I thought it would be."
His brow furrowed, and he pulled me into his arms, holding me close. I buried my face in his chest, breathing in the familiar scent of him, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat grounding me. In his arms, the world felt less chaotic, the fear and uncertainty dissipating just a little.
"You don't have to do this alone, Adhya," he murmured into my hair. "We're in this together, remember? I'm right here with you, every step of the way."
I nodded against his chest, feeling tears prick at the corners of my eyes. But I blinked them back, not wanting to show weakness now. Not when we were so close.
"I know," I replied, my voice muffled. "I just...I need this to be over. I need him out of our lives."
He pulled back slightly, just enough to look down at me. His eyes searched mine, and I could see the determination in them, the fierce protectiveness that had always been there, from the moment we first met.
"And he will be," Advitya said, his voice firm. "We'll make sure of it. But right now, you need to take care of yourself. You've been through enough today."
I managed a small smile, touched by his concern. "I'm okay, really. Just...a little shaken."
He smiled back, though it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Come here," he said, guiding me over to the couch by the window. We sat down, and he wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulling me close.
For a while, we just sat there in silence, the city lights twinkling outside as night began to fall. His presence was a balm to my frayed nerves, a reminder that I wasn't alone in this fight. I rested my head on his shoulder, feeling the steady rise and fall of his breathing, the warmth of his body against mine.
After a few minutes, he turned his head slightly, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of my head. "You're incredible, you know that?" he whispered.
I smiled, feeling a flush of warmth spread through me. "You always say that."
"Because it's true," he replied, his lips brushing against my hair. "You're the strongest person I know, Adhya. I don't know how you do it, but you amaze me every day."
