The morning air tasted different.

Soft, crisp, almost sweet—like the world had shifted ever so slightly while she slept. The faint hum of the city seeped through the curtains, but inside the room, wrapped in warmth and stillness, Adhya felt cocooned.

She blinked awake slowly.

Advitya was sitting beside her, his fingers brushing through her hair in slow, thoughtful strokes. His gaze was distant, but the moment her eyes opened, his features softened—as if a weight had lifted just from seeing her awake.

"Good morning," he whispered.

His voice alone made her chest tighten with affection.

She shifted closer, her hand moving unconsciously to touch her belly. It still felt unreal—like a fragile dream she was afraid to claim fully.

"Did you sleep?" she asked softly.

He gave a small smile. "I watched you sleep more than I should have."

She could hear the unspoken words beneath his calm: fear, relief, protectiveness, love.

A tiny set of footsteps pattered down the hallway.

Aaryan appeared at the doorway, his small frame wrapped in his favorite blue hoodie, hair tousled from his evening nap. He rubbed his eyes, looking up at Adhya with sleepy confusion.

"Mumma...?" he asked softly, his voice laced with concern.

Her heart melted.

Her little miracle, long before she ever knew another miracle would come.

She sat down on the edge of the couch and opened her arms. He immediately climbed into her lap, curling against her like he had done a hundred times before.

"I'm not sad," she whispered, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "Just... overwhelmed."

He pulled back, blinking up at her with those big brown eyes that always saw more than others realized.

"Is something happening?"

A soft smile tugged at her lips. "Yes, sweetheart. Something very special."

Advitya knelt, catching the boy in a tight hug.

Then Aaryan looked between them, sensing the strange glow in the air.

"What's going on?" he asked suspiciously, hands on his tiny hips.

Adhya and Advitya exchanged a look—one filled with warmth, fear, and unspoken joy.

"Should we tell him?" she asked softly.

Advitya came closer, kneeling beside Aaryan.

He gently held the boy's shoulders. "Yes. It's time."

Aaryan's eyebrows rose in curiosity. Adhya took his hand. "Aaryan... there's going to be a new member in our family."

He blinked. "A puppy?"

She laughed softly. "No, sweetheart. Not a puppy."

Advitya leaned in, eyes warm. "A baby, Aaryan."

The boy's mouth fell open.

"A... baby?"

"Yes," Adhya whispered. "In my tummy."

Aaryan stared at her belly, then up at them, eyes wide, filled with awe.

"Like... like a real baby?"

"A real baby," Advitya confirmed, brushing a hand through his hair.

Aaryan's face lit up—pure, explosive joy. He threw his arms around Adhya's waist, hugging her belly with all his tiny strength.
