Kate | at the mallI was hanging out with a friend from Iowa, Claire, she's really nice. We met at the dorms when I used to live there and not off campus.
We were currently in line for ice cream as she was making fun of me for getting some of my matcha on my white jeans.
"At least I don't have makeup on my shirt," I decided to tease her. "Where?!" She panicked as I laughed.
"I'm just kidding," I said, shaking my head as I lean forward to pull her into a hug. "You don't have makeup on your shirt," I said in between my laughter.
She subtly hit my arm that was wrapped around her and said, "we're both fools for wearing white today," she laughed.
When it was our turn to order, she wanted to say it. I stood back a bit and admired her long blonde hair and taking in her sweet scent. I look up at the cashier and see him looking at her in a way that made my blood boil. And I didn't know why.
"Is that it?" He asked her, "yes," and for some reason, my tone came out harshly. Claire noticed and wrapped her arm around my waist to tug on my shirt.
I payed and then we moved to sit by the window, not too far from the counter but also not too close.
"What happened?" She asked, sitting down in front of me. "I don't know, maybe I'm getting hangry," I said. And I was right. I didn't know why I felt that way. I mean the way he was looking at her probably was in an innocent way and not even in a flirty — I need your number — way.
We continue to talk about random stuff before we decided to take our ice cream and walk around the mall.
We got tired of walking and eventually just wanted to finish our ice cream so we sat down on a bench.
"That's such a cute dog," Claire pointed out a toy poodle that was being held by an older woman who was walking with a man who I assume is her husband.
I smiled at the thought of settling down with someone and getting a pet together.
"Yeah, I want a golden retriever," I said, she nods as I look at her, as if asking her what she wants. "I want either a labradoodle or a cat," she said which made me laugh a bit.
She looked at me confused. "A cat or a dog?" I asked and she nodded, laughing when she realizes why I laughed a bit.
"Yeah, either will work for me," she explained with a small smile. Something that made my stomach do flips. A feelings I haven't felt in a while.
We got done eating ice cream and decided to head home. I drove her back to her hotel and I drove back to mine, to which I was met with Azzi.
"How was the date?" She asked, and I confused because I wasn't on one. "What?" I asked. "Your story made it look like it was a date," she elaborated.
I came to a realization that I may or may not have just made people think I was on a date. I go to my instagram and take the story down.
"Who was it?" She asks when she sees me put my phone down. "A friend from college, she was in Vegas for work and she saw my story from this morning and asked if we could hang," I explained.
She nods but I notice a slight change in her "OKK," nod to an "okay..." nod.
"What's wrong?" I asked, worried. "Nothing, I just thought it would be someone else," she said, getting up from the bed and going to the bathroom.
(Another short update, I HAVE SM HOMEWORKKKK!!)
