Kai | Vegas

I was in Vegas with my dad because he didn't want me to be here alone for 3 weeks without being sure if I'm even officially on the team.

I was heading to the Aces headquarters for our first meeting and to speak to the coaches. I parked my car and was escorted in by a security guard.

He leads me to the room where the meeting is being held at. I thank him before opening the door to see it filled with all the players that have been playing on this team.

"Hey!!" A'ja jumps out of her seat to hug me. "How's Vegas treating you so far?" Chelsea asks, getting up to hug me too. "Not bad," I laughed to which some of them laughed too.

"Another hot player on the team!" Sydney says, clapping her hands together as Kelsey hits her. "Shut up," she almost yells at Sydney. "Ignore her, you can sit next to me by the way!" A'ja says, sitting down and pulling a chair out from under the table.

I sit down and talk to A'ja for a bit before the door clicks open and a blonde walks in, earning the same cheers as me. I maintained sitting in silence while most of the girls stand up to hug her.

I watch as she smiles and laughs with them. I look down at my phone and decided to text my girls.

Husky Hoes 💙

Kai,
I'm at the meeting, this is when the awkwardness starts.

Ashlynn,
Ignore her! You're our Ace!

KK,
Yeah! Don't worry about that blondie. Blondes don't matter!

Paige,
HEY! Shut up

KK,
Oops 😬

Azzi,
Just be the bigger person, and if she doesn't realize why you're acting the way you are — because of her actions, or rather the actions she didn't make — then confront her about it in a mature manner.

Kai,
I'll try. But I miss you guys 😔

Jana,
Come home! With the milk

Kai,
I'm not the dad!! Paige is. I'm the mom who's busy working to pay for yalls shit while the dad is busy drinking.

I turn my phone off when I noticed everyone went silent for a bit. Hearing the chair in front of me squeak, I glanced up to make eye contact with Kate. She smiled at me but all I did was raise my brows and looked away.

When Coach Hammon walks in and everyone claps. I joined in and so did Kate. She smiled at us then asked for silence.

"How are we today?" Everyone said good or great. "How are the newbies?" She look between me and Kate as Kate mumbled a good but I decided to say something to help lift up the awkwardness. "Fine, but I'll be great when I'm officially on the team," Becky laughed. "I like you!" She points at me as A'ja pats my shoulder.

"I expect a lot this year. Each year I want us to perform better than the last year. My expectations for you guys is to simply be better than yourselves as player and as teammates compared to last season."

A few minutes pass and she starts talking about jerseys. The vets talked about keeping their numbers. "What about the newbies!" Syd asked out loud. "What's yours?" Kate asked me but I looked at Becky. "Five," I said, making everyone confused.
