Kailea Cameron was one of those players who you could tell was good. She was great at basketball. You didn't need anyone to say it. All you had to do was go to a UConn game and watch her. Admire her. How she could play any position on the court with no trouble, how she could trust her teammates, and how they could trust her. There was no question that everyone knew how good Kai was. She was on the big screens, in sports ads, posters, and even the news. People expected the best to happen to her. People wanted the best to happen to her.
Kate Martin was amazing. She was amazing on and off the court. She was the best at having great sportsmanship, maybe a few mistakes, but that's what makes her better. She was an amazing captain towards her girls. She knew when they needed her, and the Iowa girls just had each other's back. But Kate never expected to be so recognized. Even though she's an amazing player, she never knew she would have the chance to play for one of the best WNBA teams ever. Maybe she may even make other people realize how good she is while they are spending their time looking up to overrated players.
Kailea and Kate were a duo you never thought would be great together or even a duo in general. Because they never were a duo, they had played against each other during their entire college career, and no one would have ever thought of the fact that they would ever get the chance to play together. Maybe it was how they looked up to each other during college, perhaps it was how they liked each other, maybe it was even how they thought about moments together even before they had the chance to do anything with each other.
Author here,
I'm such a big fan of the WNBA, and I'm so happy that I get to write based on it AND write about Kate at the same time. Also, in honor of her birthday being today, I decided to finally publish the first few chapters.
