RISA HONTIVEROS:

Back in high school, Alice, a junior high student , stole my heart, even though I was a senior in G-12. I was head over heels for her, but I couldn't tell if my feelings were real or just a result of her doing all my assignments. Eventually, I made a terrible choice and traded her for my classmate, Leni, my ultimate crush.

Leni accepted me, even knowing I was still with Alice, because she loved me. I was so caught up in my own feelings that I didn't consider the pain I was inflicting on Alice. One day, we were at Leni's school park, gazing into each other's eyes. I was about to kiss her when I felt a presence watching us. I turned and saw Alice, just about to walk away. I was stunned, but I ignored her and kissed Leni.

The next day, Alice was absent from school. I was worried, but she returned the following day. I was about to get a snack at the canteen when she grabbed my hand and dragged me to the park.putang..

Love, do you still ........Mahal mo pa ba Ako? I know you've been cheating on me for a while, but I still love you so much, "she pleaded, tears streaming down her face.

"Alice, I'm sorry. I know you love me, but you deserve someone better,"I told her, trying to convince myself that I was letting her go.

"No, Love, please naman oh I'm always begging for your love," she begged, her voice trembling.

"kaya Nga Ali eh punyeta! I love you, but we can't be together. I'm about to graduate, and you're still in junior high. What if we're not at the same school next year? My feelings might fade for someone else, so it's better for us to break up now before it's too late," I argued, trying to justify my decision.

"Love please I beg para huwag mo lang Akong Iwan " she pleaded, kneeling before me, her skirt now stained from her tears.

"No, Alice. My decision is final. We're over. Besides, she's better than you," I said harshly, ignoring her tears.

For days, she ignored me. My feelings for her slowly shifted to a longing, a sense of missing her. One day, I went to her classroom and peeked inside. She was slumped over her desk, and her classmates said she was sick. After school, I waited for her in the hallway, but I saw her older sister, Zhang Mier, escorting her. I hid, watching as they put Alice in the car and drove away. My plan to talk to her, even for a moment, was ruined.

I planned to wait for Alice the next day, but she was absent. Eventually, I realized that she was no longer at the university. I asked her teacher, who told me that Alice had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing treatment in Singapore. Her studies had been put on hold, and her parents had taken her abroad for treatment.
