Days turned into weeks, and Maya found herself in a state of limbo. She missed Josh terribly but couldn’t bring herself to call him, not until she had sorted out her feelings. She also hadn’t heard from Gelo, which was both a relief and a source of anxiety. She needed to talk to him, to figure out what he wanted, what they both wanted.

One evening, as she was walking through the park, lost in thought, she saw Gelo sitting on a bench, staring off into the distance. Her heart skipped a beat, and she hesitated for a moment before approaching him.

“Gelo?” she said softly.

He turned to look at her, his eyes tired and filled with regret. “Maya,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m so sorry for everything. I never should have kissed you like that. I’ve messed everything up.”

Maya sat down beside him, her heart heavy. “We both made mistakes, Gelo,” she said quietly. “But we need to figure out what we want. I can’t keep living in this uncertainty. I need to know if there’s a future for us, or if I need to move on for good.”

Gelo nodded, his gaze dropping to the ground. “I know, Maya. I know I need to make a decision too. I’ve hurt Angie, I’ve hurt you, and I’ve hurt myself. I need to figure out what I really want, what’s best for everyone.”

They sat in silence for a moment, both lost in their thoughts. The air was thick with tension and unspoken emotions, and Maya felt her heart ache with the weight of it all.

“I’m going to talk to Angie,” Gelo finally said. “I owe her that much. And I need to be honest with myself, with everyone. I can’t keep living like this.”

Maya nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could all find a way to move forward, to heal the wounds that had been opened. She reached out and took Gelo’s hand, squeezing it gently.

“Whatever happens, Gelo, I just want us all to be happy,” she said softly. “No more secrets, no more lies. We all deserve that.”

Gelo looked at her, his eyes filled with gratitude and sadness. “Thank you, Maya,” he said. “I’ll let you know what happens. I promise.”

As they sat together on the bench, the sun dipping below the horizon, they both knew that the road ahead wouldn’t be easy. But for the first time in a long while, there was a sense of clarity, of a path forward. And maybe, just maybe, that was enough.

The days stretched on, each one heavier than the last. Maya felt as if she were holding her breath, waiting for something—anything—to happen. She knew that Gelo had spoken to Angie, but he hadn’t told her what had been said or what the outcome was. She tried to focus on herself, on healing, and on figuring out what she truly wanted, but her thoughts kept drifting back to the two men in her life.

One evening, as she sat in her living room, her phone buzzed with a message. It was from Josh.

"Can we meet? I think it’s time we talked.”

Maya's heart pounded in her chest. She had been waiting for this message, but now that it was here, she felt a mix of dread and anticipation. She quickly typed back, “Yes. When and where?”

Josh responded almost immediately, suggesting a quiet café where they had gone on one of their first dates. Maya agreed, and within an hour, she was on her way, her mind racing with what she would say.

When she arrived at the café, Josh was already there, sitting at a corner table with two coffees in front of him. He looked up as she approached, his expression unreadable. Maya’s heart ached at the sight of him. She missed him so much, missed his steady presence, his kindness, his love.
