Jiwon stirred in her sleep before her eyes fluttered open. The first thing she saw was Soohyun's bare chest, his arms still wrapped protectively around her. She gently pulled away, tilting her head to admire his peaceful, sleepy face. A small smile tugged at her lips as she reached out to caress his cheek, her touch light and tender. Even though I lost my memories, my body remembers him, she mused silently. How does his touch have such a powerful effect on me?
Jiwon's touch woke Soohyun, and when he opened his eyes to see her smiling at him, he returned her smile, pulling her closer.
"How are you feeling?" he asked, his voice still heavy with sleep, its deep timbre resonating in the quiet room.
"Much better," Jiwon replied, her fingers tracing gentle patterns on Soohyun's chest.
"It's getting late," Soohyun murmured, his hand sliding up to caress Jiwon's exposed shoulder. "We should grab something to eat before we head back to the house."
Jiwon nodded, her eyes soft as she looked into his. "Honey, stay around... you make me feel like I'm home."
Soohyun smiled, a flicker of emotion passing through his eyes as he fought back tears. "Good to hear that," he whispered, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead.
After their quiet exchange, they both got up to bathe, Soohyun insisting on helping Jiwon with every step. He didn't even let her walk on her own, carrying her to the bathroom. Jiwon could see the concern in his eyes, the way he watched over her, as if she might disappear if he let go. She was still weak, her body struggling to recover, but his presence made everything seem easier, his care a constant comfort.
As the bright morning sky gradually gave way to moonlight, they stopped at a famous restaurant to have dinner before heading to Jiwon's parents' house to pick up her belongings for her departure the next day. The ride was peaceful, but Jiwon couldn't shake the feeling that something was different, especially when they finally arrived at Soohyun's house. The large estate was far from the city, surrounded by tall trees and guarded heavily.
As Soohyun helped Jiwon out of the car, all the guards bowed in unison, their voices echoing, "The Queen!" Jiwon couldn't hide her surprise, her eyes widening as she looked at Soohyun, who simply smiled, leading her inside.
The moment they stepped into the house, Jiwon noticed their marriage portrait prominently displayed in the living room, along with several other pictures of them together. She walked through the room, taking in each frame, until one caught her attention. Picking it up, she studied it carefully—a picture of her hugging Soohyun and his back facing the camera, her chin resting on his shoulder as she smirked at the camera, a knife playfully held in her hand.
"When did we take this picture?" Jiwon asked, holding the frame up for Soohyun to see.
"Our pre-wedding photoshoot," Soohyun replied with a slight smile, and Jiwon just nodded, setting the frame back in its place.
As they continued their tour of the house, Jiwon couldn't help but notice that almost every corner was adorned with her pictures. When they finally reached their bedroom, Soohyun opened the door with a warm smile. "Welcome home, baby," he said, and Jiwon gasped softly as she stepped inside. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, every detail reflecting a sense of love and care.
Soohyun wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his head on her shoulder. "It's good to be together with my wifey again," he mumbled, his voice filled with affection.
Jiwon placed her hands over his, which were still wrapped around her waist. "You've waited long enough, but I still can't remember anything," she admitted, lowering her head, a wave of guilt washing over her.
