The ebony Hedgehog slammed his rival to a tree, grabbing his neck tightly. The hero kicked his stomach, kicking him off him so he could finally breathe again.

The rivals had been fighting like this for weeks now, each time, rougher than the last. It all started when Eggman and Metal Sonic attacked one night and the hero couldn't protect the ebony ones best friend, causing her to get injured. Ever since then, Shadow's hatred towards the azure one grew.

The hero gave up trying to explain to his rival what had happened. He gave up trying to apologize and even understood that he would never get Shadow to listen to him. He started hating the ebony one as well and started to fight him back, knowing that he would forever be in pain if he didn't.

Everyone around them was beginning to get worried for their friends. They knew at some point that the rivals would end each other's lives if they continued like this. They were tired of the fights and not being able to talk without them snapping at each other.

One misunderstanding is what it took for the hero to finally realize that he would never get his rival to become his friend. One misunderstanding is what it took for him to give up on him and treat him the way he thought he should have treated him to begin with. Each passing day, their hatred grew, so much so they could not even hear each other's names without getting annoyed.

It had begun to get them in trouble when they were being attacked. Sometimes, the fight ended by scaring Eggman away so they could start fighting. Even the villain himself was beginning to get annoyed. He had tried to capture the hero while he was distracted only to get kicked out of the way by the rivals.

That is what had happened now, Eggman himself had tried to attack the city, sneding a hoard of his robots to attack civilians and catch the attention of his azure nemesis. The only thing he got was a chaos speared to his arm, and his army destroyed as Shadow himself chaos blast them just to continue his fight with Sonic.

"That is enough!" The pink hedgehog slammed her hammer to the floor between the rivals, causing the floor to shake and make them trip. "You two have been fighting for WEEKS! It is exhausting! It is annoying! Reckless! And STUPID!" She proceeded to hit them in the head with her hammer, hard enough to make them lay down on the ground groaning in pain.

"Amy is right, guys. You two are causing too many problems. It says a lot when even Eggman is tired of the two of you." The red echidna spoke as he walked closer to his azure friend and helped him up.

"Cant you guys make up, already?" The twin tailed fox, the heros best friend, said as he examined his injuries. "Amy, calm down with the hits. You're going to give them a concussion."

"At least it would stop them from fighting." Amy scoffed as she put her hammer down.

The ebony hedgehog groaned quietly while holding his head until his best friend ran to his side, her wing bandaged up, preventing her from flying.

"Shadow, I know you are mad at Sonic for what happened. It was an accident, how many times do I have to tell you, Hun? Can't you guys stop fighting already?" The bat pleaded her best friend. She could not be mad at him for the way he was acting. She knew he was just mad about the ancident that nearly tore her wing off.

"Stop fighting? I am just treating him the same way he treats me. I gave up on him. He is NEVER going to change." The hero panted softly as he sat up, holding his head as his world seemed to spin.

"Maybe it is best if you two stay away for a while." Knuckles suggested to Rouge and Shadow. "Give each other some time apart. Sonic doesn't mean this. He would never give up on someone." He tried to de escalate the situation, but it failed when the hero spoke once again.

"I did, Shadow treats me like I am the villain because I couldn't get to Rouge on time. I TRIED! It wasn't my fault!" He defended himself, causing the ebony one to launch at him.

Shadow got on top of Sonic and started punching him left and right, leaving bruises on his face, leaving Sonic with a black eye as Sonic tried to fight back. He grabbed Shadows' waist and turned, making him the one finally on top and attacked the same way Shadow had. Sonic spat out blood to the side and used his arm to clean his mouth. The fight only stopped when the echidna grabbed Sonic by his quills and yanked him away.

Shadow was ready to attack again once he was able to clean the blood off the freshly cut on his muzzle. But before he could even stand up, the echidna knocked him out with one rough punch in the center of his chin, causing him to fall losely to the floor.

"Are you going to stop? Or do you want me to do the same to you?" Knuckles asked harshly to his friend, who swallowed his saliva and shook his head nervously.

"Nope. I am good." He laughed quietly, rubbing the back of his neck, sweat falling down the side of his face, knowing well that Knuckles was now clearly annoyed and would probably be harsher on him.

"Take him home, Rouge. This is ridiculous." The echidna pinched the bride of his nose.

The beautiful and concerned bat ran to her best friend and picked him up, struggling slightly but did as she was told. She walked alone to her house, where she put Shadow down in her spare room and let him rest. She knew well that once he woke up, he would try to find Knuckles to kill him.

"Stay away from him for a while, will you?" Amy asked with a sigh as she walked to Sonic. It was known she had a not so secretive crush on the hero, but after seeing this new side of the hero but after seeing this new side of him, she was hesitant to even be around him. She no longer saw Sonic under the same light she did for all these years, and slowly but surely, her crush for him was disappearing. She only saw Sonic as her friend.

The team started walking back to Tails lab, where Sonic was going to get his injuries treated, completely forgetting about the actual attack that had happened. Complately forgetting to check their surrounding and not realizing they had been watched the entire time.

"This is going to be harder than I thought." Said the one who was standing on top of a branch watching as the group disappeared from view. "I dont have much time."
