Together (Sonadow)

*Sonic's POV *
"Shadow!" Maria shouted as she opened the front door. We had both been playing video games before we heard a knock at the door.

I stood up and walked to see Maria and Shadow hugging after he closed the door behind him. I had to admit, it was nice seeing him not be grumpy for once.

"Didn't she tell you she wasn't going to be here today? She's spending the day with Tails. He thinks he can help her, but he's not sure." I crossed my arms already annoyed of Shadow being in my house.

Shadow raised a brow and looked at Maria. "She texted me to come over." He crossed his arms.

And you listen to her?

Since when do you listen to anyone?
She's already got you wrapped around her finger, doesn't she, Shadow?

I shouldn't say anything. It's the same way for me.

"I thought it would be a good idea for you two to spend some time alone together and chat. Now remember, I am still coming back later today, and if I see a single new injury on either of you, I won't forgive you." Maria said while looking at the time. "I should go. I better find the two of you spending time together when I come back." She walked to the door after she waved goodbye to us, then dashed off.

"Is she -" I stopped. "Faster than us?" I nervously laughed as she disappeared from view in less than a second.

"If she really is ours, then I wouldn't doubt it." Shadow rolled his eyes and closed the door. "How is Miles supposed to help her?"

"He said there may be a way to keep her in this timeline but needed to do some research first. She offered to help. Apparently, she spends a lot of time at Tails lab in the future, so she knows a thing or two." I said to him. I saw him looking at my kitchen and chuckled. "Yeah. She cooked this morning. She made a mess here, too."

"You're still wearing the jacket." Shadow said as he sat down at the dining table and rested back on the seat.

"Not a big fan of the scar. Did you talk to Rouge?" I made my way to the kitchen and started cleaning.

"I told her about Maria too." He said while watching me.

"What did she say?" I try to continue the conversation. I didn't want Maria to be mad at me, and I could tell he was trying too, as annoyed as he was.

"She said she wasn't surprised." He confessed, making me look at him confused. "Said she thought you always liked me." I scoffed.

"Excuse me? Me?" I crossed my arms. "With all the beatings I got from you, how could I? You were lucky to end up with me in her timeline." I rolled my eyes and grabbed a rag, then started cleaning the counters.

"As if I would have been the one to go up to you, Faker." Shadow glared at me. "You're a pain, always have been. I'm better off without you."

"I can say the same thing. I was always just trying to give you a chance to be better. Guess some people can't change." I growled at him once he stood up, ready to fight me. I put the rag down and got ready as well.

To hell with my arm, I could take him.

Shadow clicked his tongue, then looked away and walked to the door. "She can be mad at me all she wants. I can't stand you."  He opened the door and walked out.

So much for trying to get along.

Maria came back later that day. She started scolding me when she saw Shadow had left, and I explained what had happened.

"So?" I asked as I crossed my arms expecting an answer. "Who went up to who? Do you know?" I repeated my question.

"You never told me. You said the past was in the past and Shadow never liked talking about it either. You two never told me how grumpy Shadow was or how bumpy your relationship was before you two got together." She said calmly. "I should go stay the night with him. You know, one day here, one day there?" She smiled and walked up to me, then kissed my muzzle. "I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Fine. Just be careful for no one to see you, alright?" I was a bit tense and still not used to the idea that I was a parent at the moment. Even if it was for a short amount of time and she wasn't my kid just yet, I was still her parents.

"I will. Goodnight, dad!" She chaos controlled away.

*Shadow's POV*
"I thought you were mad at me?" I said as I opened the door to see Maria standing at my front door. She had her arms crossed and tapped her foot on the ground, looking like Rouge when I pissed her off.

"I am!" She said as she made her way past me, walking inside the house and immediately to the kitchen looking for something to eat. "But I can't hold a grudge. I don't have much time with you two, so I have to deal with it. But someday I will get back at you."

"Whats that supposed to mean?" I asked confused as I closed the door and walked to the entry of the kitchen while listening to her.

"If you do end up with Sonic, and have me as your kid. I am going to date the guy you hate. Watch me." She stuck out her tongue at me like Faker did at times. I rolled my eyes.

"There's no way Faker and I would end up together."

"Really? You can't tell me you don't like him." She took out a water bottle and rested back on the wall as she ate some spaghetti she found in my fridge. She was eating it cold. "Because you were the one who asked dad multiple times to go out with you in the first place." I froze when she said that. "Yeah. That's right. You did, he didn't want to, but for what you told me in the future, you knew he was the one, so you didn't give up."

She smirked at me as she placed a hand on her hip and drank from the bottle. "You want to know more about what made you fall for dad?"
