*Sonic's POV *
I decided to go to Shadow's house as much as I didn't want to see him. I knew I wanted to see Maria.

Once I was there, I knocked on the door only to be answered by Shadow, whose black fur was now white. I couldn't help but laugh at seeing how annoyed he looked and hearing Maria in the back laughing so loudly as well. Shadow looked so serious as the flour covered half his body, making it even funnier.

"What happened?" I laughed, not being able to contain myself.

"She dropped the flour bag on my head." Shadow pinched the bridge of his nose and let me walk in. His mood seemed to change as soon as I spoke. He looked angrier, angry that I was here.

"It was an accident! I was trying to reach for the chocolate he hides behind the flour." Maria giggled.

"Hey. I bumped into Rouge on the way here." I hesistated, but I spoke to Shadow. I was trying not to let my anger get the best of me in front of Maria, and I could tell he felt the same way. "What did you tell her? He thinks you're seeing someone."

"She tried to come in while I was making breakfast. Daddy had to go out and-" She stopped when Shadow froze at the way he was called. "I-I mean," She corrected herself. "Shadow had to go out and prevent her from coming in. Is her wing not healed yet?"

"You know about that accident?" I asked as I walked closer and saw how messy the kitchen was. "Chaos. Let me help you clean."

"Of course I know. I always had to explain to my friends how you got your scar. Is that why you're wearing a jacket right now?" Maria said as she reached for my arm, but I quickly took a few steps back.

"Scar?" Shadow raised a brow, making Maria look at Shadow and then back at me.

"You didn't tell Shadow?" Her ears perked up, then she crossed her arms. "You've been fighting while your arm is still recovering?" She raised her voice and got closer.

"What are you talking about?" Shadow asked, annoyed.

"You could lose your arm!" Maria shouted. "You're supposed to be training your arm back to how it was not using it to fight!"

"I am fine!" I touched my arm. "Nothings happened. I am fine."

"Both of you are so wrong here. So, so wrong!" She rubbed her face. "You need to talk to Shadow about what actually happened. And you need to apologize to Sonic and stop blaming him. Chaos, I heard stories of how stubborn you two can get, but I never actually witnessed it until now." She grabbed a rag and started cleaning the counters. "Take off your jacket and show him."

"Show me what, Faker?" Shadow said but suddenly got thrown a dirty rag at his face. He grabbed it clearly annoyed and put it down on the counter again. "Sonic." He said while gritting his teeth.

"Show him your arm." Maria said as she waited for me. I sighed, feeling like somehow she was as stubborn as I was and would never drop it, so I gave in. I took off my jacket and took off the bandage that covered my entire arm.

Shadow froze at seeing my wound, his eyes going wide open, not expecting to see me this badly injured. My arm was stitched up from my wrist all the way up to my shoulder. The injury under the stitches was bruised up badly. My shoulder and part of my forearm were almost entirely covered in cuts and some bruises that were beginning to finally go away. I caught a glimpse of Maria looking at it and then quickly looking away with her ears dropped. I put my jacket back on feeling like it was too much already.

"What the hell happened to you?" Shadow finally spoke as he snapped out of it once my wound was covered up again.

"It's what I could do to save Rouge." I answered and walked to get the rag, then helped Maria clean the kitchen.

*Shadow's POV *
That day was very blurry in my head. I was focusing on trying to get the robots away from the others , and I didn't fully pay attention to what happened. I remember Rouge shouting for help, and I couldn't get to her, I remember Faker getting his friend out of the way and me getting hit while I tried to go help Rouge. In the second I turned to chaos blast the robots and turned back, Rouge had been seriously injured, and Faker had been on the ground.

My attention had been on Rouge. She was unconscious when I got to her, and I could only feel even more anger when I saw the twin tailed fox flying towards us while his leg bled. He was alive. He was okay, yet the only person I cared about was not. All because Faker decided to help his best friend instead of protecting who needed it most. I couldn't remember much. My anger got the best of me, and I was weak from all the energy I had used. I remember the fox and the echidna taking Rouge and Faker. I was not allowed to visit until she was back home.

The next time I saw Faker, I didn't question why he wore a jacket in the middle of summer. I didn't question why his punches felt so weak. I was just so mad, so mad I could have lost Rouge that I lost it and was meaner to him than I had ever been before. Rouge had tried to talk to me, but as soon as I heard his name being mentioned, I snapped. Faker tried to explain, but I couldn't take him seriously.

I had not seen he was injured as well. I had not seen he had taken most of the hit for Rouge. Maybe it was time I listened.
