*Shadow's POV*
"Sit down. You're listening anyway." Maria said even though I had said no. I didn't want to hear anything about this, I could barely stand the guy.

"I don't -" She pulled a chair behind me, then grabbed my shoulders and pushed down so I could sit.

"Did you know he was the one who said I should be named Maria? He always goes with you when it's the anniversary of her death. He knew how much she meant to you, so when you two found out he was having a girl, he said it was perfect." Maria finished the spaghetti and started washing the dishes she used. "I was told you cried." She giggled, making me cross my arms.

"Over a name?" I raised a brow.

"Over having someone who supported you and helped you heal." She said as she turned around to face me again. "I was told you the first time you asked him out, you just blurted it out after he spent the night at your house to make sure you were okay when you got injured. He was shocked and left when he couldn't come up with words. The second time, you asked him out correctly, and he turned you down because he wasn't sure you meant it. But then you asked him a third time, and Sonic asked you out on a date instead to see how things would go. Apparently, that's when you two had your first kiss and started dating the day after. You were the one to go after Sonic, not him going after you. You were the one to fall first." I was shocked to hear all this, but I could not believe it at all.

"You're lying, you little brat." I rolled my eyes at her.

"Our house was never without flowers because you would bring him flowers at least once every two weeks. You said you loved his smile and his laugh. How much he cared about you and how he didn't judge you. You said what made you fall for him was how hyper and cheerful he was, even when you would push him away." She continued, I didn't want to listen anymore. "You reminded him every day how much he meant to you, and you made a promise every day on your anniversary that you would make him happy for the rest of your life. He sacrificed everything for you, too. I was told after you two got married that he worked with Metal to find a way to make him immortal. He sacrificed everything. He knew all the risks, but he took the opportunity to be with you for the rest of your life." I dropped my ears.

"That's impossible." I said. "There is no -"

"Things aren't going to be the same. The future I belong to is not there anymore, and I will disappear, that's why I am telling you this. Sonic may hate you now, but I know if given the chance, he would accept again. No matter how angry you are at each other, you know deep down you two are friends. And Sonic would never leave his friends alone." Maria threw away the bottle. "Say what you want about him, but he cares. He loves deeply, and he hurts."

"I apologized for -"

"I know you did. But I also know dad has lost a lot of people in his life. More than you have and then you blamed him for almost losing another one when he tried his darn best. Maybe you should think about how he could have felt then." She sighed, then yawned. "I know there's nothing I can do to get you two to date, and it doesn't even matter at this point since even if you do, I am going to disappear. But I can at least make sure you two are friends before I am gone."

"Rouge spent a lot of time with you, didn't she?" I raised a brow.

She shrugged and smiled. "What can I say? You were always jealous when Amy would come around. Still don't know why, I was never told, but for some reason, she could just never be around Sonic or I alone. So I only had Rouge and Cream as girls to hang out with. Cream was always busy, but Rouge would always take me shopping."

"Go to sleep." I sighed, and she giggled.

"Yes, dad." She saluted me as a joke and then left laughing to the guest room. I chuckled and smiled slightly, then looked down at my hands.

Maybe it was time I apologized to Faker over everything. Correctly this time. At least for Maria's sake. The least I could do was try.

The next morning, there was food already on the table when I woke up, and Faker was eating with Maria. They both looked at me, and Maria pointed at the plate that was served sitting beside her.

"Good morning. I thought it would be a good idea if I brought breakfast." Faker said as he continued eating. Thank chaos, my kitchen wasn't a mess again.

"Rouge is going to take you shopping today. Just don't listen to anything she says." I said to Maria as I started eating.

"Is that really a good idea?" Faker asked after he put his drink down.

"I go shopping with Rouge all the time. I know the rules. No revealing clothes. No short shorts. No mesh. No see-through. Nothing fun." She rolled her eyes.

"Not nothing fun. We just know the way Rouge dresses. You should keep covered up. Plus, you're trying to hide here, remember?" Faker chuckled softly and then stood up once he finished eating. "Well then, I should probably go back home."

"Actually, I need to talk to you." I stopped him by speaking before he could leave. His ears perked up, then looked at me slightly confused but nodded. I could already see Maria smirking slightly in the background, making me hit her foot under the table.

"Okay? Sure. I'll wait then." He went to sit down in the living room.
