/Warning/: This chapter contains cursing, confusion, angst, fluff, a little bit of violence, mental breakdown, and Liu Mingyu gets the shock of his life! All reviews are appreciated.

P.S.: This story takes place in the PIDW's timeline (Precisely Shen Jiu's Disciple Era) and the modern world (Undecided Timeline) to some extent but with many major changes. Fair warning, English is not my first language, and I am still a bit unsure about all the roles and titles appropriated for characters but I will try my best to give this fic the attention it deserves.

Chapter 5

...( He was losing his mind... The man's hands shook as he wrote the letter, and his eyes darted around his home; trying for the thousandth time to find if someone had dared to come into his home, or if they were spying on him to know what his next step was... Where are you? Where are you, A-Jiu? ...The man could only call out inside his heart, clutching his brush tightly, trying to control his wayward emotions.

"An-Er... you are thinking about this too much..."

"The boy will be fine..."

"...He is probably angry..."

"He will get over this soon, and then he will..."

"Can't you just wait until the end of his punishment? Why are you so...?"

Words that were fed to him this whole time, making him more and more anxious, even when those around him had long since washed their hands off his Head Disciple, mocking and even daring to congratulate Shen Anwei, even going as far as asking about the new Head Disciple he no doubt planned on choosing, after those wretched bastards had dared to take away his son from him.

"I am not guilty... sending me on a prolonged Night Hunt is the definition of me admitting guilt..."

Was what his beloved's son had told him before he left, only for Shen Anwei to be stupid enough and not understand the hidden meaning in these words, having trusted his Martial Siblings to have his back and help him prove his son was innocent, only to get slapped in the face when they all accepted the verdict of his son being guilty.

A week had passed without a letter, at first, Shen Anwei chalked it to Shen Jiu not finding time to write, or maybe was too sad and wronged to find it in himself to write a letter for him; something that Shen Anwei didn't fault his son for feeling. Another week had passed, and no letter was in sight, Shen Anwei remembered shaking his legs impatiently as he waited for any news about his dear son, wondering if his A-Jiu was so angry at him that he refused to write him letters out of spite. The third week came and went, and with it, worry and concern took over Shen Anwei, he could no longer try to justify why his A-Jiu refused to send him any letters; so, Shen Anwei went to talk with the Sect Leader hoping the man would understand and help him, and lo and behold, like always, it ended in nothing but a disappointment... by the fourth week...
