/Warning/: This chapter contains:- cursing, sadness, a little bit of angst, crying, and fluff, Liu Yanli and Shen Jiu getting closer somewhat, and Shen Jiu finally returns to his beloved! All reviews are appreciated.

P.S.: This story takes place in the PIDW's timeline (Precisely Shen Jiu's Disciple Era) and the modern world (Undecided Timeline) to some extent but with many major changes. Fair warning, English is not my first language, and I am still a bit unsure about all the roles and titles appropriated for characters but I will try my best to give this fic the attention it deserves.

Chapter 8

"Left! Left!" Jiu screeched, letting out a shout when Liu Yanli held him over one of her shoulders like he was a sack of rice and ran with all of her might to escape the monsters chasing them, her mouth twitching in a smile unconsciously when Jiu squeaked and started hitting her back at the embarrassing treatment. "Go left!" Jiu cried out when he saw another Black Moon Python Rhinoceros charging at them from the right; the monster's mouth was open, and the Python within got ready to strike, which made Liu Yanli curse and made a sharp to the right, knowing their positions were reversed and that Jiu's left was her right.

Jiu on the other hand screeched 'No!' once more like he was dying while pounding on her back when another monster showed up out of nowhere, letting out an earth-shattering roar as it tried to attack, something that Liu Yanli barely managed to dodge. "My left or your left?!" Liu Yanli shouted, cursing a storm as she ran with all her might, trying to avoid the monsters that wanted to make a tasty meal out of them for daring to wander too close to their nest accidentally.

"Oh, my God! Oh, my God! We are going to die!" Jiu choked while gripping Liu Yanli's robes as tight as he could when he saw the monsters coming near, and against Liu Yanli's common sense, a laugh couldn't help but leave her throat, feeling thrilled and excited for the first time in decades. "Your left!" Jiu cried out, getting out an explosive talisman from his Qiankun Sleeve and throwing it at one of the monsters; using this as her chance, Liu Yanli made a sharp turn to the left and ran with all her speed to avoid those creatures that were hellbent on killing them.

"Shit! There is a cliff!" Liu Yanli groaned when she saw the cliff and almost started cursing like a sailor; but still, Liu Yanli narrowed her eyes when she saw what looked like stack rocks in the distance of the cliff, which made her grin and increase her speed, knowing that she could jump and make it, even with the little kid hanging on her and almost vomit his heart out from the way he clutched her robes. "Well, hold on tight, Princess, we are going to jump!" Liu Yanli warned when she reached the edge of the cliff before jumping, letting out what equaled a manic laugh when Jiu screeched as loud as he was capable of, clutching her as if his life depended on it (Which it was in a way).

Somehow Liu Yanli managed to reach the stack rocks some twenty or so meters away, clutching the edge of one of them with her free hand, and using all of her strength to pull her and Jiu up. Taking deep breaths and turning to the monsters, gazing at them and grinning behind her Weimao when she saw those annoying creatures huffing and roaring near the edge but were unable to reach them, even when unleashing their pythons at them.

Jiu pulled out of her hold, letting out a moan of terror as he threw himself at the ground, holding the rock they were on with both his arms and legs while taking deep breaths and muttered something under his breath. "Well... that was fun!" Liu Yanli could only laugh, leaning with both of her hands on the rock that was three meters wide in all directions.
