/Warning/: This chapter contains:- cursing, sadness, a little bit of angst, a little bit of fluff, and Liu Mingyu being a sad boy the whole chapter! All reviews are appreciated.

P.S.: This story takes place in the PIDW's timeline (Precisely Shen Jiu's Disciple Era) and the modern world (Undecided Timeline) to some extent but with many major changes. Fair warning, English is not my first language, and I am still a bit unsure about all the roles and titles appropriated for characters but I will try my best to give this fic the attention it deserves.

Chapter 6

Liu Mingyu was nothing but a soulless curse...

...That's what he had known for years...

Ever since Liu Mingyu was born; he knew there was something wrong with him... something that set him apart from everyone around him; something that was so essential that everyone had, but he didn't, and no matter how many times Liu Mingyu searched for it (Even if he didn't know, what it was back then), he would never find it.

At that time, Liu Mingyu wasn't Liu Mingyu; at that time, his mother was married to her soulmate, a man when remembered now, Liu Mingyu could only remember his last name 'Huo'. A name that used to belong to Liu Mingyu once upon a time before he had to ruin everything.

Before Liu Mingyu was Liu Mingyu, his name was 'Huo Mingyu'; the son of a father so proud to have a brilliant child like him; Huo Mingyu felt like he was on top of the world. A loving father, an amazing mother, and Huo Mingyu, this was his family; a family that Liu Mingyu felt like he was the happiest boy in this whole world to be included in... all of that changed though... it changed when Liu Mingyu discovered...

He was four, and Liu Mingyu (Back then Huo Mingyu) still remembered everything with clarity that haunted him to this day... he was four, and he was playing with the other kids, enjoying his day happily, with the happy thought that his mother would later come and pick him up, give him kisses, and then take him home, where he was happy and warm and would eat his favorite meal with his family.

He was four, and he remembered sitting in class, half listening to the teacher as he tried to catch the floating string on his pinky and failing (A disgusting blackened thing, a shriveling mess, that was cut and burned, and the string was left to float aimlessly around him; a string that was on Liu Mingyu's pinky since he was born, not knowing why it was there, and why no one could see it other than him), a game that he played since young and enjoyed in a way that made both of his parents shake their heads and smile.
