Zee's POV

"Send me the location. I'm on my way."

I wondered what could be so urgent that Janice needed to see me now.

The café was a place we used to frequent, cozy and quiet, tucked away on a side street. As I walked up, I saw Janice at a corner table, her eyes darting around nervously.

When she spotted me, her face lit up with a mix of relief and hope.

"Zee," she said, standing and reaching out to hug me.

I wanted to return the gesture, to feel her warmth again, but something stopped me.

It just didn't feel right. Not now.

"Janice," I replied softly, taking a step back.

Her surprise was palpable, and her eyes searched mine for an explanation. She sat down, nervously twisting a napkin.

"Thank you for coming," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

I took a seat opposite her. "What's going on? You said you needed me."

Janice took a deep breath, her eyes meeting mine with a mix of determination and vulnerability.

"I need you, Zee. I need your help." Her words hung heavily between us.

Confusion clouded my thoughts.

"But Janice, you're with someone else now. Why are you asking me for help?"

She looked away, gathering her thoughts.

"It's not about me, really. It's about us. I know things ended badly between us, and I regret that every day. I never wanted to lose you completely."

"You do know I'm in a relationship now, right?"

"Why? It's not too late for you to choose me."

When Janice called and asked to meet, it was clear that our agreement with Nunew was still very new, and I was waiting for her to return.

I was torn, feeling an intense urge to be with Janice again, yet I couldn't shake Nunew from my thoughts. Over the past few days, I had grown increasingly comfortable with Nunew, and my feelings were a jumbled mess I struggled to understand.

Our conversation that day ended without resolution. I couldn't bring myself to give Janice an answer.

I needed more time to untangle my emotions and figure out what I truly wanted.

As I spent more time with Nunew, the contrast became clearer. My focus shifted entirely, and I found myself increasingly preoccupied with him.

My connection with Nunew grew stronger, and an instinctive desire to protect him and stay by his side began to overshadow my thoughts of Janice.

Janice's constant pleas for me to return to her had started to wear on me. Her persistence, while perhaps well-meaning, had become a source of irritation.

I knew I had to put an end to this cycle of confusion and set boundaries.

The day before Nunew's birthday, I had finally made up my mind. I found myself standing outside the café, a familiar yet now conflicted place.

Janice appeared with her usual bright smile, which faltered only slightly when she saw me. She wrapped her arms around me in a tight embrace, her eagerness evident.

I felt a pang of nostalgia, but it was quickly overshadowed by the clarity of my decision.

Janice pulled me inside, We settled into a secluded corner, away from prying eyes. Janice's smile was hopeful, but there was a nervous edge to her demeanor. She guided me to a table and, after a brief pause.
