I needed to stop.
I needed to go back to being Alastor.
I needed to go back to being Dad.
I needed to stop being weak and complaining.
Pain was something I was used to, this was nothing.
Nothing at all....
I stared at the ceiling.
Rosie was sleeping, Lily had most likely gone to bed.
But I couldn't sleep.
She was here.
In heaven.
How the hell had she even made it here?!
Years ago, Lucifer trapped her in the deepest part of hell, how had she escaped?
Why haven't I felt her until now?
Why choose now to yank my freedom away from me?
Oh yes, because I was happy.
I sighed and rolled on my side, staring out the window.
She was relentless.
She wouldn't stop until she got what she wanted.
But then again, what did she want?
I rolled again, shutting my eyes.
This was so stupid. I should not be worrying about it!
I reached up and rubbed my head. All this thinking was giving me a headache.
Probably also a cures from that hag.
I groaned and adjusted myself yet again.
Nothing was comfortable.
Ugh...
I carefully got up and walked away.
Away from the house.
Away from Rosie.
Away from my problems.
Again, what a fucking wimp.
I adjusted my suit a little and shook my hair out before walking into the city.
It was night, but still beautiful.
It was weird not seeing the familiar landscaping of hell, familiar people, just everything in general.
It was quiet.
I would admit it was nice on my ears.
One downside of having incredible hearing and living half time at a hotel full of horny demons.
I cringed just thinking about the things I've heard.
The only thing I will say, I am very lucky that Rosie is a therapist.
I tried to get the edrenaline out of my legs, tried to get myself worn out.
But no such luck.
In the end?
I walked all around Heaven sightseeing and making myself tired.
Finally, I ended up back at Lily's new house.
Insane that she actually had one.
My little Fawn was getting to big.
And Taylor was already an adult.
Heh... nothing was ever going to be the same... was it?
Rosie grabbed my face. "WHERE DID YOU GO?"
I laughed it off and tried to pull myself out of her grip. "Just on a walk! Nothing else!"
Lily giggled at the end of the table. "Mom! It's fine! Let him go!"
Rosie frowned and glared at me. "You could have told me."
I looked up at her. "Rosie dear?"
"Hmm?"
"Breakfast is burning."
That made her let me go. "Oh fine! But I was worried! You disappeared right after yesterdays whole ordeal! And I was just... just worried."
I pulled the pan off the stove and walked to her, grabbing her chin lightly. "I'm sorry my darling, I didn't mean to scare you."
Rosie looked away. "It's not your fault...."
I placed a soft kiss on her cheek and then her head. "I am still sorry. You don't deserve that."
Rosie smiled a little. "Thanks..."
Lily smirked. "Alright alright! No kissing at breakfast!"
We all laughed and a minute after that, we ate.
Lily wanted to take another walk, despite the fact that I'd seen it all the night before.
We were walking, the two girl's talking about some fabulous mascara so I was not really paying attention.
Someone caught my arm. "Hello? Do you think you could maybe-" I turned around.
A woman.
Older, maybe sixty, stood behind me, her hand still on my arm.
The voice she had once been speaking with, died, her stunning brown eyes staring into me.
I smiled a little forced and pulled slightly. "Ma'am, I think you have the wrong-"
"Alastor?"
It felt like I got shot.
A ping, a painful ping set off in my brain at the sound of her voice saying my name.
"Alastor darling!"
"Come here honey!"
"Alastor Altruist!"
"You little trickster..."
"Hey, come here Al."
"It'll be okay darling."
"I-I'm so sorry Alastor..."
"Don't look at me Alastor, please!"
"Keep smiling baby, keep smiling......"
If my smile could leave? It would have disappeared off my face for the rest of eternity.
I opened my mouth, and whispered. "...Mother?"
She slapped a hand over her mouth. "ALASTOR?!"
One tear slipped down my cheek. "I-I... yes..."
She tackled me with a hug. "I knew it! I knew you'd make it to heaven! I just knew it!"
I didn't know what to do. "You-Your really my mother?"
She looked up and smiled. "Of course! Look at you.... so grown up! So handsome..."
More tears slipped out.
But tears of joy.
And maybe embarassment.
But I really didn't care.
My mother, Abigale Altruist stood back, sniffing. "I missed you so much! I-I just, I am sorry I couldn't stay..."
I grabbed her hand. "It's not your fault, don't blame yourself."
She smiled. "Yes.... Oh! Who are these fine young ladys?"
Rosie stood there, smiling and blinking her beautiful eyes in wait.
And Lily stood behind her in complete confusion, it being very apparent on her face.
I grabbed Rosie's hand. "This is Rosie!"
Mother smiled and shook her hand. "Lovely to meet you."
I coughed. "My wife."
Mother's eyes flew open. "HUH?!" she looked back to Rosie before hugging her. "Oh thank the lord, you saved him!"
Rosie laughed. "Saved him? I only married him. You have a lovely son ma'am."
Mother stood back. "I-I didn't know you were even interested in that! You absolutely hated the idea of loving someone when you were small! I didn't think you'd ever recover."
I turned slightly red and smiled to cover other emotions. "Mother.... Yes. Rosie is the only one I will ever love like that. She is special."
She smiled and looked away. "I'm so happy right now."
Lily decided that being ignored was not her style and walked up. "Hello!"
Mom looked between Rosie and I, then to Lily. "Is she....?! What....." her mouth hung open. "YOU HAVE A CHILD?!"
Lily giggle while I put a hand over my face. "You-You don't have to- okay- just- never mind."
Mother grabbed Lily's harm and hugged her, turning her head around and smiling. "Well let me just say this one got the good side of both genes."
Lily laughed. "I like to think so."
Mom frowned. "But how did she get here? You hate... um..." she cleared her throat and looked away.
Rosie's face went red. "WHAT?!"
I coughed and looked away, hiding my own red face being my arms. "MOTHER!"
Lily just looked at the ground. "Oh. My. Gosh."
Mother stared at the ground. "Um... that got awkward."
I nodded. "Yes it did."
Rosie was still buried in her own embarassing thoughts as she turned about five different shades of red and hid behind her hands.
This conversation was getting out of hand.
I grabbed mom's arm. "Why don't we sit down for some nice tea and I promise to tell you all about everything! How about that?"
Mother nodded. "Yes, I do believe that would be best."
And as we walked, whereas Rosie got over it eventually, Lily was still looking at the ground, in shock and embarassment.
To be fair, I was doing the same thing just in a less obvious manor.
What was the frase?
Like Father like Daughter?
