I finally woke up the next morning around 8:30a.m. I felt so refreshed because I had showered and slept in my own bed. I quietly slid out of bed so I didn't wake Alex. I traveled to my kitchen and made a pot of coffee because after the day I had I needed a pick-me-up. I remember Alex and I talking last night before I had dozed off, but what did we talk about? I can only remember him asking how the summer was going to end and that is it. Did I say something stupid? I truthfully can't remember. I go to my fridge and grab a bagel and the cream cheese and make myself some breakfast. After I finish eating I slip into my room and grab my running clothes and shoes. Before I leave my apartment, I write Alex a note saying I am going for a quick run and going to stop to talk to my parents. That I would see him when I get back.
My parents lived across town which isn't very far so I always take a longer route to their house so I can get my run in. When I turn down their street I see my dad checking the mail and I run up to him and just give him this stare and he wraps his arm around my shoulder and leads me into the house.
"No kiddo tell me what happened." My dad said while slapping me on the head with the paper.
"Where's mom?" I asked quickly.
"She is in the kitchen. Have you eaten?" He asked me softly.
"Yes I had a bagel." I said walking towards the kitchen.
"Look what the cat dragged in." My mom said while walking towards me to give me a hug.
"Hi mom." I said with a slight smile while sitting down at their counter.
"So why did your trip end quickly? Did Bec and Jason fight again? Was Jason's cousin weird?" She asked while exhaling heavily.
"Well Bec and Jason have broken up and Jason's cousin Alex is actually in my apartment right now sleeping." I said while sipping on my coffee.
"Oh? Wait, why did they break up? I know Jason isn't the brightest but I really thought they would get married." My mom expressed.
"Lacey, I am not as concerned about them splitting up as I am that there is a random boy in our daughter's apartment right now." Henry said while looking at me over the paper.
"Oh Henry she is 24 yrs old. So Talia what happened?" Mom questioned.
"Well day two I woke up to hearing Jason and Becca fighting. Turns out it's because Jason invited Carson out. When he showed up tensions started to rise and Alex and I ran to the closest store to get out of the issue hoping that Carson would be gone when I returned. Which he was, but so was Becca and Jason didn't know where they were. When I found her location we all walked to find them and well lets just say that they are more than friends." I said with tears filling my eyes.
"Oh Talia, I am so sorry. How is Jason?" She asked me while hugging me.
I pulled away and said, "I don't know. Once I get home I am going to go to his house with Alex to check up on him." I said while finishing my coffee.
We finish up our small talk and I give them my goodbyes. I even promised I would bring Alex and Jason over for supper one night this week. As I head back to my apartment I see Carson's Car sitting around the corner from my apartment. I quickly grab my phone and start to call Alex.
"Hello Birdy." Alex said sweetly.
"Hi Macho, Carson is parked around the corner from my apartment. Could you come meet me outside? I will wait until I see you outside." I said in a panic tone.
"Of course, I am on my way right now." He said quickly.
When I locked eyes with Alex I jogged over to him. As I approached him, Carson peeled away. We both went back inside and traveled to my apartment. I locked the door behind me and I grabbed a glass and filled it up with water because I was parched after that run. I noticed Alex had done my dishes this morning along with his dishes that he used. I told I was going to take a quick shower because I was so sweaty. I quickly finished in the shower and got dressed and noticed he had also made my bed as well. After I got dressed I headed back out to the living room where he sat reading one of his books he had brought.
