Alex and I wake up pretty early to head over to the hardware store to grab everything we need to start the demo of the cabin. Our plan is to do all of the walls, floor, windows, kitchen, and bathroom first. Get the main things out of the way so we can do the fun things last. I wake up and throw my running clothes on and grab my headphones. Best way to start the day for me is to get my early morning run on. I need it to factory reset my brain and body everyday.

"Macho, I am going to go for a quick run." I holler.

"Umm, can I join you today? I promise not to slow you down, Birdy." He expressed.

"Well of course, Macho. Think you could keep up?"I said, throwing a wink his way.

We both walked out of my apartment, laughing and playing around. I led the way and to my surprise he kept up great with me. I jogged towards my parents house and saw my dad grabbing the mail. He waved me towards him. I am kinda hesitant on going because of Alex being with me. We haven't even discussed what we are or anything.

"Hi Dad." I panted, while wiping sweat off my face.

"Hi pumpkin, how was your run?" He said, rubbing the top of my head.

"It was good, I even had a decent running buddy." I giggled while pointing towards Macho.

"Hi Sir, my name is Alex." Alex said, extending his hand out.

"Hi Alex, I am Henry." My dad replied, shaking his hand back.

"So, what's for breakfast?" I said awkwardly.

My dad led us into the house and the first thing I do is go grab a glass of orange juice for Alex and I. I walked over to the fridge and grabbed a banana because my parents swear they make the bananas taste better, but I just think they are crazy. My mom seems to be upstairs so I let Alex know I am going to find her. I haven't told her yet that I found the note from my father letting me know everything I needed. Why didn't my mom tell me? Did she know he had left me in the cabin? If she did, why didn't she tell me?

"Mom?" I hollered.

"In your old room, honey." She replied in a muffled tone.

I walked into my old room and said, "So I went to Jack's cabin yesterday."

"Uhh why did you do that?" My mom asked nervously.

"Because we couldn't find Bec and I just had a feeling she would be at the cabin because we both loved it out there. Anyway, why didn't you tell me that Jack left me his cabin and that I have a half sister?" I said with tears filling my eyes.

"Talia, listen, I didn't know about him leaving you the deed to the cabin. But I couldn't bear the thought for the longest time telling you about your sister. I was so angry with your father." She cried.

"So was I mom, so was I. But that didn't give you the right to keep me from having a relationship with my sister." I snapped.

"I am sorry, Talia. We are human and we make mistakes okay? Please try to understand where I am coming from, Talia please!" She cried.

I couldn't even look at her anymore. I stormed down the stairs and found Alex and insisted we needed to leave. I quickly gave my dad a hug and stormed out of their house. When I went outside, my world felt like I was on a nonstop merry-go-round. Everything felt unreal, kinda like a horrible trip on acid. Nothing felt like it was how it was supposed to be. My own mother has lied to me my entire life. My biological father just abandoned me and left me a run down cabin. What was even happening. All of a sudden, I knew I was going to faint when my stomach started to give out. It felt like my innards were being replaced by some kind of black hole. Then nausea crept from my abdomen to my head and the world went black.
