After Alex and I finish in the shower, I go to check on Jason one more time before I climb into bed. I quickly go to the kitchen and slam a glass of water before strolling back into my bedroom. When I enter my doorway I see Alex propped up on what he has made his side of the bed still reading the same book as before.

"Macho, tell me a little bit about the book you are reading." I said climbing into bed.

"Birdy snuggle in close. This book teaches you that the art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy not coming, but on our readiness to receive him." He said in a deep soothing tone.

"The Art of War by Sun Tzu. Yeah I read that in high school and no not because I had too, but because I wanted to." I said laying my head on his chest.

"Okay Birdy, quote a line out of the book. This is my second time reading it, so I will know if you are making something up." He said while lifting an eyebrow up at me.

"Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt." I said with my eyes floating shut.

"Well shit Birdy, I think I am falling more for you now." He said while closing his book.

Alex laid his book down on the side table next to the bed and turned the lap off. He slid down in bed and proceeded to brush my hair behind my ear. Am I crazy or does it feel like this summer fun is turning into summer love? I know better, I am not one to break someone's heart. If I catch feelings and try to pursue something the both of us will get our hearts broken. I can't do that to him and I can't let myself go down the heartbreak rabbit hole again. But I can't help but feel every time I am with Alex, I feel like I am kinda at home. The home you just can't make up. I fell asleep daydreaming about my summer with Alex. When I woke up, the other side of my bed was empty. I stumbled out of bed and grabbed my robe and slippers and walked out to the living room.

"Hello? Is anyone here?" I hollered.

I walked around my apartment which seemed to be vacant. I walked over to the kitchen and made myself some coffee. I sipped on the cup for a few before I walked back to my bedroom and threw on my running outfit. I threw my hair into a messy bun and grabbed my headphones. I quickly sent a text to Alex telling him I was going for a run but I would hide a hidden key inside the plant outside of my apartment. I locked the door behind me and started my running playlist. While running I kept thinking about Alex and all the good that has come with meeting him. Then my mind travels to the whole Becca and Carson situation and it still strikes a nerve in me. All of a sudden my phone starts ringing and I see that it's Alex calling me.

"Hey Macho." I said out of breath.

"Birdy, how close are you to Jason's house?" He asked quickly.

"Probably about half a mile away, why what's going on?" I asked in a worried tone.

"Just get here as soon as you can, okay?" He said before hanging up.

What could possibly be going on? Is Jason falling off the bandwagon? Everything I could think is coming to my head. I am partially freaking out. I start panicking and my heart rate starts to go up. As I jog up the Kemsworth's drive, I feel a darkness fill my chest and it grows even deeper when I walk up to Jason's door. I knocked on the door before I walked in.

"Hey what's going on? What was with the rush for me to come over?" I said breathly.

"Birdy, sit down please." Alex said softly.

"Okay guys you are freaking me the fuck out right now, so please just tell me what going on." I said quickly.

"T, Becca skipped town last night. Her parent's don't know where she is. She left her phone, debit and credit cards behind. She also didn't take her car. There is no way to track her at this moment. And the dumbass sheriffs around here said they can't do anything about it because she hasn't been missing for 24hrs yet, what a fucking joke." Jason hollered.
