Aevor watched as the knight he called friend, whom he called brother, buried with his twin brother.

All he can think about is what he could have done different. He wonders who would be so foolish enough to send a lone kingsguard after his mother.

He knows that it wouldn't have been Otto or Alicent Hightower. He knows it wouldn't have been Aemond. Which leaves his Uncle Aegon and Ser Criston Cole the suspects in this.

The thought of the knight that hated Aevor for no good reason. Just for being the son of Rhaenyra Targaryen. So in turn, Aevor hated him. For killing his father's lover. For making him feel like he did something wrong to him. For trying to have his mother killed by sending a Kingsguard. Ser Erryk's own brother.

Aevor can already feel the blood boil within him. Almost like the blood of the dragons is calling out to him. Begging him to impeach hell and death of the fools in the capital. But he refuses to act like a tyrant. Instead, he's gonna play it smart. Above all, he's going to make Ser Criston wish he hadn't crossed him.

No. He's gonna wish that he hadn't awoken the dragon within him. One way or another, he's gonna get his due.

Rhaenys finds her grandson overlooking the seas. She can see so much of Laenor in him. Or more like the appearance of him. "Otto Hightower would never have allowed this. Hotter blood has prevailed, I think. The young men have taken the bit in their teeth. They wish to punish, to avenge. Soon they will not even remember what it was that began the war in the first place."

"That is easy enough. They usurped my mother's throne." Aevor said, not looking at his grandmother. Still angry and sad.

"That is one answer. Or was it when the child was beheaded? Or when Aemond killed Luke... or when Luke took Aemond's eye? We teeter now at the point where none of it will matter. And the desire to kill and burn takes hold and reason is forgotten." Aevor can agree with his grandmother on that. No one will remember how the war started. They'll sing about it. Debate about it. But no one will truly know. "There may be another way. Alicent Hightower."

Aevor frowned at the idea. Speaking with the Queen that conspired with the men on the council to take Rhaenyra's throne and kill her heirs. "When last we met, Alicent said my mother would make a fine queen. You've seen what has happened since then."

"She came to me in the hours after your grandsire's death. She knows war is coming, and that it'll be savage beyond all compare.
There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin. And no war so bloody as a war between dragons. I do not believe she wants it." Rhaneys explained to her grandson.

"The Dowager Queen sent a raven to my mother. I don't think she cared to read it. But can you blame her?" Asked Aevor to his grandmother. "What she did..."

"It is not her but the men around her who seek bloodshed."

Aevor thinks carefully. Wondering if one of those men are Otto or Ser Criston. "Perhaps. Perhaps not. But who's to say she permitted it?"
