Six years later, the succession of Driftmark is put into question after Lord Corlys Velaryon is grievously wounded during the fighting in the Stepstones. Daemon informs Rhaenyra, who is now pregnant. She then realizes that Alicent and Otto, who are now heading a regency in King's Landing, will side with Ser Vaemond Velaryon, who is challenging Jace's claim. This would create severe problems for Rhaenyra's family, as if Jace's claim is overturned, Luke's and her own would likely also be jeopardized.
The only good thing she has going for her is Aevor. He's the true born son of Laenor Velaryon. And she hasn't heard from him in six years until now, as she received. But she's read the reports on him. His skills with a sword has improved.

Rhaenyra wonders what she will say to him. She married her uncle so soon and he goes out killing a bunch of Triarchy men. She worried for him. He could've been killed and she wouldn't have been there to protect him.

She'll find out soon enough as she's gotten word that Aevor left with Rhaenys and Baela.

The beast had grown in size since they last saw him six years ago. They can also see how fast The Sea King has become. And his aerial maneuvers are very impressive.
Aevor clearly was training his dragon for air combat.
Rhaenyra isn't sure what she will find once she enters the Red Keep. But she hopes her grandmother in law and her eldest son will be on her side and she hopes to reconnect with him after six years of giving him space and is wondering if he got her letter.
