Queen Alicent and the rest of the Green Council watched as they carry what remains of Aegon II Targaryen. In a box with his armor, though it's filled with a skeleton and ashes.

And they managed to bring Sunfyre. The once beautiful dragon is now nothing more than a skeleton of what he used to be.

Alicent silently looked on as the knights carry her first boy through the capital. Killed by Rhaenyra's first born son, Prince Aevor Velaryon. Who went from being a boy of mere ten to a proficient warrior and dragon-rider. She wonders how this could happen. She told her eldest son to do nothing and yet he did the opposite. And he paid with his life.

The bells were tolling. "Behold!" The knight announced. "Our beloved King Aegon! And his dragon, Sunfyre! Killed by The Kingslayer, Aevor Velaryon at Rook's Rest!" A crowd of commoners were absolutely shocked to see a dragon killed. Some thought of the dragons as gods.

One of the townspeople claimed this act to be a black omen. Another said that Aemond will have his revenge.

Speaking of The One-Eyed Prince, although he didn't like his brother that much and had gotten real sick of him over time, he knew deep down it was his fault. Had he used Vhagar's talons to grab either Rhaenys or Aevor, he'd have saved his brother. But there are some people that can still fall victim to another that they assumed was on their side. And Aegon was faced with the worst sort of betrayal. His younger brother, Aemond, betrayed him and attempted to leave the kingdom bereft of its king.

There was enmity between them: Aemond doesn't seem to respect his brother, Aegon humiliated and mocked him in a vulnerable moment, and the dead king was clearly a useless leader, and Aemond might have thought himself more suited to rule. Maybe he still thinks so. Until then though, he finally speaks. "Someone will have to rule in his stead. Until one of his children grows older enough to rule."

"At the council meeting... we will decide. And allow the time for Helaena to mourn her husband. And for my grandchildren to mourn their father. Where is um... where's Ser Criston Cole?" Alicent asked.

"Taken by Aevor. To Dragonstone." Aemond figured after what Cole had attempted to do, sending a knight to slay Rhaenyra, he knew his nephew wasn't going to let that slide anytime soon. Even the reports stated that Aevor had attempted to kill Cole on dragon-back while he and Baela were flying around the crownlands.

"I told him not to go into battle. Aegon. I told him to do nothing. And yet he did something." Alicent's voice was trembling. That was her son that was killed. First one of Rhaenyra's children maimed hers, and now her eldest son killed Alicent's eldest son.

"He got himself killed." Aemond clarified. "It was supposed to me and Ser Criston. But my dear brother wanted revenge." Had Aemond arrived early he could have prevented some of what happened at Rook's Rest. Like preventing Aegon from being humiliated by their nephew and Sunfyre from being killed by Gaelithox. Though Aemond admitted that he fired upon Aegon in hopes of getting Meleys and Gaelithox, along with their riders in one shot. But those two weren't fools, for they realized what was going on. If only Vhagar wasn't too slow he could've gotten them early and he'd have taken care of Rhaenys and Meleys. But alas, the gods played their jokes.
