Gods know how many times Aevor has sung that song. He and his father, Laenor sung it together. When he took him aboard the ship at ten, the two (Aevor & Laenor) and the crew began singing it.
It's called "Fish in the Sea."
Aevor knows some Shanties. But this will always be his favorite.
He was outside of Dragonstone singing it and was watching his dragon fly around.
Unknown to him, his grandmother, Rhaenys heard him and she smiled. Remembering the song her son taught her grandson. Aevor maybe a Targaryen and a dragon rider, but he's also a Velaryon, through and through. And he's a sailor. Even though he hasn't done that much sailing. "It's been six years since you've sang that song, Prince Hand." Aevor is both a prince and Hand Of The Queen.
Rhaenys and Aevor stare outside, watching Meleys and Gaelithox flight at such speed.
The Queen Who Never Was heard of Rhaenyra's plans to find those who share some Targaryen Blood in them. And she thinks the plan is foolish. Not that Aevor blames her cause it is foolish.
Not to mention that even if they did found a someone of Valyrian Blood, they need to learn High Valyrian, because these dragons only understand this language.
That and no one really chooses these dragons. It is they who chooses their rider.
"When you were young, your father's dragon, Seasmoke, has always loved you like Laenor has. Before your dragon was fully grown, he'd always follow you around. It was if he wanted you to be his next rider. And now we are training someone not of our family name to see if he can bond with a dragon. Laenor's dragon." Rhaenys, deep down, doesn't want anyone of her husband's and her blood to ride Seasmoke. That dragons was ridden by Laenor first. He became the first Velaryon dragon rider. She'd hope Rhaena would tame her, but that dragon apparently almost killed get. She was lucky though to have bonded with Silverwing.
