Hearing the curtains be moved, I slowly opened my eyes. Removing the somewhat wet washcloth over my eyes to see.
Blinking to get rid of the blurriness, I sighed in relief that my headache had disappeared during the night.
Turning my head, I saw Amelia opening the balcony doors to let in some fresh air. When turning to me, she quickly saw that I was wake. "I see that you finally decided to wake up, your highness."
I hummed, watching as Amelia walked over to me. "What time is it?" My voice was raspy when I spoke, noticing how dry my mouth was.
"It is nearly noon, your highness." She took the wash cloth away from me and set it down on the nightstand. Grabbing a glass of water and handing it to me as I sat up, taking the glass from her.
Taking a long sip, Amelia spoke some more. "I have prepared you a bath and an outfit for today, your highness. And, your father wants to speak to you about last night's incident."
A small groan left me, pulling the now half empty cup away from my lips. Hanging it back to Amelia as she took it and set it down.
"Let's just get this over with."
Taking off the gown from last night, I took my bath and washed up. Getting out when I was done and putting on the red dress Amelia took out before redoing my hair.
Amelia opened the chamber doors for me and I stepped out. Walking to Father's office as Amelia closed the doors and followed after me. Keeping three paces behind.
Strolling through the halls, the servants stared at me, trying to keep it on the down low but failed miserably. I noticed their eyes on me but dedicated to pay no mind to it, I'm already in deep trouble and I don't want to make it worst.
Reaching father's office, the knights standing on guard opened the doors for me, stopping Amelia when she tried to follow me in. "No one but the Princess may come in."
Amelia turned to me and I silently nodded. She bowed her head and turned to leave. Walking off to do God knows what.
Sighing, I turned back around and walked inside, the door closing behind me.
Father was sitting behind his desk, staring at me with anger filled eyes as I stood before him. Wanting to be anywhere but here.
"Rowan, your behavior last night toward Duke Greyson was highly unacceptable. You must apologize immediately!"
I stayed standing straight, not wavering from father's yelling. "The man called me untamed. Said he wanted to marry me cause no one else would, that I was lucky. I had every right to put him back into his-"
Father cut me off my slammed his fist against his desk, startling me as I stared at him with wide eyes. "I don't care if he had called you a bastard!"
He shot up from his chair which loudly scraped across the floor. His rage full eyes staring daggers at me. "If he wanted to marry you, you should have just accepted instead of making a giant fuss in front of all those nobles, especially the Empress!"
Snapping out of my shock, I scowled at Father. "I rather cut off my own tongue than marry that old geezer!" Father looked down, shutting his eyes. "He is the same age as you. Old enough to be my father!"
Not saying a word, Father fell back into his chair. The room silent as neither of us say anything for a while.
I watched as father placed his elbow on the arm of his chair and rubbed his eyes. "You are such an embarrassment towards the Kingdom and to me."
Saying nothing, I held back tears and ignored the stabbing feeling in my chest. Taking a few deep breaths to calm down.
When Father finally looked back at me, he sat more properly on his seat. Sitting straight, his crown on top his head.
The sunlight that rain down on the golden crown from the window behind him burned my eyes, making me look away to not get another headache.
"You will escort Empress Circe around the Kingdom, show her around and be on your best behavior." I snapped my head back at Father. "What? Why would am I doing that?"
Father's eyes narrowed at me. "Because the Empress herself personally asked me to allow you to show her around the kingdom last night. And if you don't, you will be spend an entire month on the training grounds!" I frowned, feeling a little afraid by what he said.
Just then, the door opened and I looked behind me. Seeing Empress Circe walk in, wearing a black and red dress. Her expression empty until she saw me, a small hit of lust formed in her eyes as she smirked.
Father got up from his seat and quickly greeted her. His tone changing from anger to soft. "Empress Circe, welcome." He sticked out his hand as the Empress stood at my side, staring down at it and not taking it.
After a long awkward moment, Father cleared his throat. Pulling his hand away. "May I ask what being you here to my office?"
"I wanted to see what the hold on was. I am rather eager to look around your kingdom, King Henry." She turned me to, her smirk returning as she looked me up at down, sending shivers down my spine.
"My deepest apologies, Empress Circe. I was just having a chat with my daughter about her behavior last night." Father gave an anxious smile, sweet running down his face.
The Empress reached over, grabbing a strand of my hair and tucking it behind my ear. I quickly stepped away from her, feeling father's eyes on me. "If-if you want, Empress, you can take my daughter now, I am done speaking to her."
"Great." Reaching over once more, Empress grabbed my arm and began dragging me out of Father's office. "Hey-wait!"
I tried to get out of the woman's grasp but her grip only tightened. Why is she so strong!?
