∘❀∘Jaeyun's eyes widened in horror as the teacher announced the pairs for the project. "And lastly Jaeyun, you'll be working with Heeseung."
Jaeyun felt like he'd been punched in the gut. Of all the people in the class, he had to be paired with his rival, the one person who made his blood boil.
Heeseung, on the other hand, seemed to find the situation amusing. He chuckled to himself as he walked over to Jaeyun's desk.
"Well, well, well. Looks like we're stuck together, Jaeyun," Heeseung said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Jaeyun's frustration boiled over. He clenched his fists, his mind racing with all the things he wanted to say to Heeseung. But he bit them back, not wanting to give Heeseung the satisfaction of getting under his skin.
"Let's just get this over with," Jaeyun muttered, trying to keep his cool.
Heeseung grinned, seemingly enjoying Jaeyun's discomfort. "Oh, come on, Jaeyun. It'll be fun. We can brainstorm together, share our ideas..."
Jaeyun's eyes narrowed. "I don't need your help, Heeseung. I can do this on my own."
Heeseung's grin faltered for a moment, but then he recovered. "Suit yourself, Jaeyun. But we're still going to have to work together if we want to get a good grade."
Jaeyun's anger simmered just below the surface as he reluctantly began to work with Heeseung. He couldn't believe his bad luck.
As they worked on their assigned task, Heeseung couldn't help but steal glances at Jaeyun. He found himself mesmerized by Jaeyun's intense focus, his brow furrowed in concentration.
But what really caught Heeseung's attention was the way Jaeyun glared at him whenever he thought Heeseung was slacking off. Those piercing eyes, narrowed into slits, made Heeseung's heart skip a beat.
Heeseung couldn't help but chuckle to himself. Jaeyun looked like a puppy when he was angry, his face scrunched up in a adorable scowl.
Jaeyun, oblivious to Heeseung's gaze, continued to work, his pencil scratching across the paper with precision.
Heeseung's eyes lingered on Jaeyun's hands, noticing the way his fingers moved deftly, the way his nails were bitten short.
Heeseung's thoughts were interrupted by Jaeyun's sudden glance up, his eyes flashing with irritation.
"What?" Jaeyun growled, his voice low.
Heeseung held up his hands, feigning innocence. "Nothing, nothing. Just admiring your...concentration."
Jaeyun's glare deepened, but Heeseung just smiled, enjoying the sparks flying between them.

Heeseung lay in bed, replaying the events of the day in his mind. He couldn't believe he had been so flirtatious and playful with Jaeyun, of all people. What had gotten into him?
But as he thought about it, he realized that Jaeyun's adorable glares and scowls had gotten under his skin. He had never seen Jaeyun so...human before.
Heeseung's mind wandered back to the way Jaeyun had looked at him, his eyes flashing with irritation, but also with a hint of vulnerability. Heeseung's heart skipped a beat as he remembered the way Jaeyun's face had scrunched up in a scowl.
He couldn't help but feel a pang of concern for Jaeyun. He had seemed so depressed earlier, but when they were working together, Heeseung had glimpsed a different side of him. A side that was more relaxed, more open.
Heeseung's thoughts swirled with contradictions. He had always seen Jaeyun as his rival, but now...now he wasn't so sure. Maybe Jaeyun was more than just a competitor. Maybe he was someone worth getting to know.
Heeseung's eyes drifted off to sleep, his mind still reeling with thoughts of Jaeyun and their unexpected pairing. Little did he know, this was only the beginning of a complicated and unexpected journey.
