∘❀∘The next day, Jaeyun and his friends were chatting as usual when Heeseung approached them. Jaeyun, still feeling a bit awkward after their last encounter, tried to play it cool.
"Hey, what's up?" Heeseung asked, flashing his signature smile.
"Just discussing our weekend plans," Jungwon replied, nodding at Heeseung.
Ni-ki and Sunghoon suddenly piped up, "Hey, who's up for going to the arcade?"
The group enthusiastically agreed, except for Jaeyun. "I don't know, guys. I have extra classes."Jaeyun lied.
Jungwon shot Jaeyun a sympathetic look. "Aww, come on Jaeyun. You can skip one class for once. It's not like your mom will find out."
Jaeyun hesitated, knowing that Jungwon was right. His mom wouldn't even notice if he skipped class. But he just couldn't bring himself to say yes. He was scared.
"Sorry, guys. I really can't," Jaeyun said firmly, trying to hide his disappointment.
The group reluctantly agreed to leave without him, and Jaeyun watched as they walked away, feeling like he was stuck in a rut.
As he trudged home, Jaeyun's thoughts turned to his mom, who was probably out at another party, living her best life. He sighed, feeling like he was shouldering all the responsibilities alone.
Jaeyun lay in bed, his thoughts racing with emotions. He couldn't believe he had missed out on the fun again, all because of his mother's expectations.
He thought about Heeseung, about how he seemed to effortlessly balance school and fun. Jaeyun felt a pang of jealousy, realizing that he had been so focused on beating Heeseung that he had forgotten how to enjoy life.
Jaeyun's eyes drifted closed, a sad smile on his face. "Why can't I be more like Heeseung?" he wondered He knew he couldn't keep living like this, constantly stressed and anxious. He needed to find a way to break free from his mother's grasp and learn to enjoy life, just like Heeseung.
As he fell asleep, Jaeyun made a silent promise to himself. He would start taking small steps towards freedom, towards finding his own happiness. And maybe, just maybe, he would find a way to befriend Heeseung, to learn from him how to live life to the fullest.
Little did Jaeyun know, his journey towards self-discovery was just beginning, and Heeseung would play a bigger role in it than he could ever imagine.
