Jaeyun walked into the house, dropping his bag on the floor. He spotted his mother sitting on the sofa, a glass of wine in her hand.

"Hey, Jaeyun, how was school?" she asked, her voice dripping with indifference.

Jaeyun felt a pang of frustration. She didn't even bother to ask about his day, about how he was feeling. She only cared about one thing - his grades.

"School was fine," Jaeyun muttered, not wanting to engage in a conversation.

His mother raised an eyebrow. "Just fine? What did you do in school? Did you get any homework?"

Jaeyun sighed, feeling a familiar sense of resentment. Why couldn't she ask about his interests, his hobbies? Why did it always have to be about school?

"I got some homework," Jaeyun replied curtly, not wanting to elaborate.

His mother nodded, taking a sip of her wine. "Good. Make sure you finish it before dinner."

Jaeyun nodded, feeling a knot in his stomach. He didn't want to talk to her anymore. He just wanted to escape.

"Mom, can I go do my homework now?" Jaeyun asked, trying to keep his tone neutral.

His mother waved her hand dismissively. "Yes, go. Don't bother me."

Jaeyun nodded, feeling a mix of relief and sadness. He trudged up the stairs, his heart heavy with emotions. Why couldn't his mother be more supportive, more caring? Why did she only see him as a means to an end?

Jaeyun sat at his desk, staring blankly at his homework. He couldn't focus, his mind still reeling from the conversation with his mother.

He thought about Heeseung, about the way he had smiled at him, the way he had teased him. Jaeyun's heart skipped a beat as he remembered the way Heeseung's eyes had crinkled at the corners.

Jaeyun shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. He couldn't think about Heeseung right now. He had to focus on his homework.

But as he began to work, Jaeyun's mind kept wandering back to Heeseung. He wondered what Heeseung was doing right now, if he was thinking about him too.

Jaeyun's pencil scratched across the paper, his thoughts a jumbled mess. He couldn't believe he was actually thinking about Heeseung like this. Heeseung, his rival, his nemesis.

But as he delved deeper into his homework, Jaeyun realized that his feelings for Heeseung went beyond rivalry. He was curious about Heeseung, about what made him tick.

And as he finished his homework, Jaeyun made a decision. He would try to get to know Heeseung better, to understand what lay beneath his charming smile. It might sound weird to jaeyun for trying to get to know about his rival, but he atleast wanted to try for the first time.
