"I've got her, go back to sleep dad."

Bella had woken up screaming that night. Elena could hear her sister clearly and immediately jumped up and ran downstairs to her. Elena had encountered her dad in the hallway and sent him away knowing how tired he's been legally. They would take shifts sometimes to wake her because she had nightmares often after Edward left her alone in the woods.

"I'm here Bells." Elena cradled her sister who sobbed softly. "What was it about this time?" Talking about things always made Elena feel better and sometimes they helped with Bella as well.

"Jacob." She whispered as she wiped her eyes.

"Him leaving?" Elena questioned. She stared out the window across from them. It was pitch black outside still but Elena could see the tree outside of Bella's window.

"No. Something he said that day we went to the beach." Bella sighed and laid down in her sister's lap.

"What was it?" Elena played with Bella's hair.

"He told me that the Quilettes are descended from wolves. That his great grandfather had encountered the Cullen's and that's when they created a treaty. Between the wolf descendants and vampires."

"Bella are you trying to tell me something? Cause you sound crazy." Elena scoffed.

"You said the same thing when I mentioned the Cullens being vampires." Bella looked up to her sister.

Elena just nodded. She was right. "So what are you thinking?"

"I think Jacob is a werewolf." Elena laughed out loud.

"You mean to tell me that the boy we've known forever can somehow magically shape-shift into a giant wolf?" Bella stayed silent. "Well if he can, I think we just let our father know about his presence."

"We need to go see him." Bella sat upright biting her thumb.

"We'll go in the morning. Let's get some sleep." Both girls got comfortable in bed before falling asleep next to each other.

Bella pounded on the door to Billy Black's home. The man wheeled himself to the door and sighed when he saw the twin's at his door.

"Bella, Elena." He greeted them with a straight face. Elena frowned she wasn't used to him being straightforward and not happy to see her.

"I need to see him." Bella stated standing her ground.

"He's not in." Billy sighed.

"Okay, I'm sorry I really need to see him." Bella pushed passed the man and made her way over to her friend's room.

"I'm sorry Billy." Elena apologized but followed after her sister.

Bella sighed in relief when she opened his door and saw the boy sleeping peacefully in bed.

"Bella." Elena nodded her head to the window and saw four men slowly making their way over from the forest.

"Come on." Bella tugged her sister along before making her way to the back door. Elena followed in suit.

"What did you do?!" Bella yelled stomping her way over to the group. "Hey, what did you do?!" Bella kept repeating herself as she made her way over to the pack. Bella quickly shoved Sam Uley away causing the other members to go on defense.

Elena made eye contact with Embry who looked sad. "Em?" She called.

"Easy." Sam pushed Paul back. Elena could see the latter was starting to shake.

"He didn't want this!" Bella yelled looking between them.

"What did we do? What did he do? What did he tell you?" Paul was breathing heavily as he looked at Bella.

"Paul!" Elena yelled causing them all to look in her direction.

"Both of you need to Calm down." Sam demanded.

"Nothing! He tells me nothing because he's scared of you!" Paul and the other boy standing next to him started laughing in Bella's face. This was definitely not going to end well. Before Elena knew what was going to happen, Bella's arm swung up and slapped Paul in the face. The man immediately stopped laughing and started growling and shaking even worse than before.

"Probably shouldn't have done that Bells." Elena slowly pulled her sister away from the man as Sam continually tried to calm him down.

It didn't work though. Paul Lahote inevitably transformed into a gigantic wolf right in front of their eyes. Bella took a few steps back while Embry pulled Elena to his side quickly. Elena though couldn't take her eyes off of the now giant wolf standing in front of her, starting to stalk towards her sister.

"Paul don't!" Elena tried to step forward to stand between her sister and the wolf, but Embry held her tightly. Suddenly Jacob came flying out of the house. Jumping over the small railing, he ran to Bella screaming her name.

"Jake run!" Bella was running as fast as she could to get to her friend. Right before Jacob and Bella collided Jacob jumped right over the brunette and transformed into his own wolf. The exact same wolf that had stared directly at Bella and Elena the day that Laurent threatened them.

Jacob growled at Paul and then the two started attacking each other eventually rolling away into the forest to get away from the group.

"Take the girl's back to Emily's place." Sam pushed the fourth man whose name was still unknown to Elena in Bella's direction.

"Guess the wolf's out of the bag." Embry joked.

Elena just stared at him. "What the fuck Embry?" She pushed him away.

"What? It's a joke." He followed Elena who shoved past the unknown man and helped her sister up.

"You think a joke is great for a time like this?" Elena yelled as she turned back to him. "We just found out our best friend can turn into a giant dog! That's not something to joke about." She glared at Embry. She was still upset about him abandoning her.

"Come on, it was a good one though." He tried to get her to smile.

"I'm still furious with you Embry! You abandoned me! After I let you in! After I told you about being abandoned already! You were one of my closest friends Em! Someone I thought I could always count on to be there for me. Yet you left me just as quickly as they did!" Elena yelled at him. Bella tried to pull her back but Elena wasn't budging. "You're just like the rest of them." She glared.

Embry took a step back. He knew he had hurt her leaving but he did it for her. To protect her and everyone else. He was too unpredictable at the time but he had hoped she wouldn't be too furious with him.

"I'm sorry El. Really and truly I am. Just let me explain why I did it." Embry pleaded.

"Sorry isn't enough." Elena sighed before the girls walked back to Bella's truck. Embry had taken the keys from Bella and hopped into the driver's seat. The older twin didn't want to get in between the awkwardness and waited for Elena to get inside the truck before sliding in next to her.

Elena was pissed at Embry but his warmth was very comforting to her. She couldn't help but lean closer to him to keep herself warm.
