Chapter 8: Biwa-Hopping

Tanjiro couldn't believe what he was seeing as Muzan held up a piece of Tyler as the piece squirmed in the demon's hand. Somehow and somewhere during their fight, Muzan managed to rip a piece off without them noticing.

"Shit, he must've been pretty fast to rip a piece of me without me noticing! That's why he wanted to retreat like a little coward." Tyler growled out as Muzan laughed darkly.

"Oh, you think of me as a coward?" Muzan repeated as Tyler widened his eyes as the demon king was somehow hearing him from within Tanjiro's head.

"How did yo-?!"

"Oh, its quite simple! Ever since I ripped this piece off, I felt connected to that very creature within you boy. I can hear its thoughts and feel its emotions... not to mention that the power in this one tiny little glob makes me wonder how strong it really is as a whole!" Muzan exclaimed as he eyed the symbiote piece.

"This is not good! What do I do?!" Tanjiro thought as his mind raced across the multiple scenarios that could happen with whatever action he chooses next.

If he didn't attack, Muzan would kill him and Tyler and become more powerful by bonding with him forcefully.

But if he attacked then that demon woman will teleport him away easily.

Either way, Muzan would win in this situation.

"Muzan now knows that he can hear Tyler talking so I need to figure this out on my own otherwise he'll hear our every word and know how to counter us immediately!" Tanjiro thought before looking at the Demon King.

"You'll never win against us... humanity has lasted this long against the demons and we're not giving up until your head is chopped off." Tanjiro firmly stated as Muzan rolled his eyes.

"Please, you talk like you could actually kill me, without that creature and that red nichirin sword, you are nothing... you yourself stand no chance against the likes of a demon king." Muzan boasted as Tanjiro clenched Muramasa tightly.

"Yet I stood my ground and made sure to make you bleed for coming close to my family! Look at you now, running from a mere child with a sword and you call yourself a king?!" Tanjiro yelled in anger as Muzan's eyes turned cold and dark.

"Oh I'll make sure to kill you right infront of your family after I tracked them down... no, better yet, I'll devour them. I'll send all of my Twelve Kizuki to find them and make sure they torture them to the point where they'll beg for death." Muzan swore as that was the last straw for Tanjiro as he let out a guttural yell before rushing forward with Muramasa drawn.

Lazily, Muzan glanced at Nakime who immediately struck her Biwa as the sound resonated loudly.

One second Tanjiro was charging the demon king before he found himself on top of a building in Asasuka City as his sword swung at nothing. Stabilizing himself, Tanjiro panted in anger as he clenched his sword tightly before screaming into the sky in rage.

Falling to his knees, Tanjiro felt all the deaths of everyone who died in this city slam onto his shoulders.

"It's all my fault." Tanjiro said in a hollow state as his pupils shrunk and quivered as the consequences of his actions settled in entirely.

He chose to draw his sword when Muzan turned his back to them and began walking away which forced Tyler to stop him and drew Muzan's attention to him which led to... countless innocent people to be slaughtered and devoured by the demon king.
