The Path to Becoming a Demon Slayer

Nezuko sat in a cave, hiding from the sun, while Nyx sat outside the cave, playing in the dirt and waiting for Tanjiro to return. Nezuko dug herself a little hole, hiding further from the sun. Soon Tanjiro returned and he nearly dropped the basket in his hands, seeing Nyx sitting in the sunlight.

"Nyx!" Tanjiro shouted fear laced in his voice as he rushed over to her. He dropped the basket and grabbed Nyx's hands to check her skin, but he was surprised she wasn't burning like he thought she would.

"But I thought..." He trailed off as he looked into the cave, to see Nezuko hiding away from the sunlight. He then looked back at Nyx, who was staring at him with curiosity. "I guess...you are immune to the sunlight." He was happy about this. He then picked the basket up and went into the cave. "Hey, Nezuko. I found a basket for you, do you think you can fit inside?" He asked his sister and she looked hesitant to get into the basket.

"I want to keep moving during the day, and it appears that Nyx is immune to the sunlight,  so it's not like you have to share the basket," Tanjiro said, trying to get his sister into the basket. "Can you fit in this basket?" Nezuko climbed out of the hole and crawled into the basket, but it didn't appear she could fit.

"Hey, Nezuko? Remember how you grew big like an adult? Do you think you can do the same but get smaller" Tanjiro asked and Nezuko looked at him confused. "Come on, Nezuko! Smaller Nezuko!" He cheered his sister on, and she flipped the basket up and grew smaller to be able to fit inside of it.

Tanjiro sighed in relief as he patted her head, making her hum in happiness. "Wow! Good job, Nezuko!" He said before closing the lid to the basket and placing it on his back. He crawled out of the cave with Nyx and he took her hand. They walked down the mountain and headed back into town to get directions to Mount Sagiri.

"Mount Sagiri?" The lady asked confusion laced in her voice. "If you want to get there, the fastest way is over that mountain." She said as she pointed over to the mountain. "But the sun is about to set and you are holding an awful lot of luggage and this one looks sick and blind." She said as she pointed at Nyx. The lady was a little off-putted by the bamboo muzzle on the white-haired girl, but she didn't want to seem rude by questioning Tanjiro.

He smiled at her as he shook his head. "Please don't worry we will be careful. Thank you for your help." He bowed before rushing off while dragging Nyx.

------------Night Time------------

Soon it became night and Tanjiro let Nezuko out of the basket to walk beside him. He held his sisters' hands as they came across a temple with the lights still on. "Huh? It's a temple. Looks like the light is still on, so somebody must be there. Let's check it out." Tanjiro said as he walked up to the temple.

Nyx started having that bad gut feeling again. The same one she got when her family was being attacked by that demon. She stopped walking and pulled her brother to a stop. He looked at her confused, before he started to smell blood.

"Somebody must be hurt!" He exclaimed as he let go of their hands and rushed up the steps of the temple. The girls followed after their brother and Tanjiro threw open the door to the temple.

"Are you alright!?" He asked worry laced in his voice, but he froze as he dropped the basket. The sight before him made his blood freeze cold. 

there was a demon devouring the humans inside the temple. There was blood everywhere. The demon stops eating and turns its head over to the three of them.

"What are you doing here?" The demon growled out as he glared at them. "This is my territory. Anybody who sets foot on my turf is going to have to pay!"
