"But it feels good
To be known so well
I can't hide from you
Like I hide from myself"

There was a comfortable silence while Lynn and Marley worked in the library. It wasn't awkward by any means—no, it felt easy and right. Lynn was working on Algebra whilst Marley was busy on her laptop.

Now, what it was, Lynn didn't know. Every time she tried to take a peak, Marley would hide the screen, and move it farther away. This was definitely odd, Marley wasn't the secretive type; but Lynn decided to forget about it, it wasn't really her business.

It was a nice thing they had going. They had been doing this tutoring thing for about four weeks and it wasn't terrible. In fact, Lynn's grades were great—or at least better than before. And that was thanks to Marley, she was a good teacher.

Lynn didn't hate spending time with her either. Before, Marley had been this kind of sacred thing. She was like the epitome of all things good; She was a perfect student, charming, and talented.

Lynn learned that Marley wasn't perfect; she was dorky, and funny, and she listened to all the best music. She also loved talking about her favorite movies and obscure history facts. Sometimes Lynn forgot they were obligated to spend time together, every day it felt like a regular hang out with a friend, plus the homework, but Marley managed to make it fun.

She was like the solace bathing Lynn in a pool of tenderness. Her words were affectionate like the ripples of the sea, tiptoeing onto the shore, rinsing the dry sand in a body of care.

Lynn felt cleansed with the girl—like she couldn't be heeded chaos of her home life if it meant one fleeting moment with a gentle soul like Marley's. For wavering seconds, Lynn felt her ears redden by her honeyed words.

She was sure she could never come across a girl so lovely in her lifetime. But now, that dim assumption was squashed, for she had met a girl who seemed as though she had jumped out of the pages of a novel.

And now, Lynn was walking Marley home, which happened to be in the opposite direction of her own home. Marley tried to talk her out of it, but Lynn insisted, something about it getting dark, but it came out as an incoherent murmur.

They walked and talked about a lot of things. Like why orange juice was better than apple juice, and why Lynn thought golf shouldn't be considered a sport. It was nice talking with each other, Lynn found; conversations with a person so different from yourself lead to eye opening revelations.

Once they had made it to Marley's porch, they stood still. Lynn didn't know if she should wait for Marley to go inside and then leave, or if Marley was waiting for Lynn to leave. They just stared at each other for a couple moments before Marley spoke up.
