Lynn Loud was enchanted. The kind of enchanted you feel when you see a waterfall cascading down a rocky slope. The kind of enchanted you feel walking down the beach, feeling the sand beneath your feet, the sunset meeting the horizon in a dance and creating shadows of aurora and apricot.

In Lynn's case, she was utterly enraptured by the soft and delicate voice belonging to her friend, Marley.

Lynn was sat on Marley's patterned carpet, eyes locked on her figure, sat on top of her bed, guitar in her lap.

Her fingers plucked the strings with ease, like it was an extension of her, like the chords could play themselves with just her presence.

But to Lynn, the best part was her voice. It was smooth and soft like water rushing, filling the cracks in the floor and creating ridges in the sharp rocks. It was strong enough to clear out a forest, but it was silky enough to rush through the air like a whisper, winds carrying messages and traveling through perilous flight.

It was truly delightful to see the sound come from her mouth, a string of prose creating a vivid cloud of pictures around her. Lynn felt as though she must be the luckiest girl in the world to hear the delicacy of her voice licking the air, her song crashing and carrying hints of her soul.

Call her selfish, but Lynn basked in the thought that there were people who hadn't been given the gift of hearing Marley sing. It was like a secret Lynn wanted to keep to herself, but she knew she couldn't. Marley had raw talent, anybody with ears knew that, it would be a crime to keep her away from the opportunities she was guaranteed to have in the future.

Lynn watched in amazement as Marley played her favorite song of the week; "Souvenir" by Boygenius. Lynn liked the song, she thought it was fine as it was, but hearing Marley sing it gave her a completely different outlook. It's like she made the song whole, not that it wasn't before, but she took her own spin on it, and somehow, to Lynn, it was the best sound she's ever heard.

Dreamcatcher in the rearview mirror
Hasn't caught a thing yet
Twenty dollars in souvenirs
Anything's worth trying

The sound almost sent shivers down her spine, a delicious harmony coursing through Marley's blood.

To stay out of your nightmares
Few hours in your dream last night
Always end up dying
You said because of course I did
