Marley believed there was nothing sweeter than watching someone you care about experience the delightful feeling of joy. She lived to see it; watching their face light up, when their cheeks would sport a shade of crimson alongside a contagious grin.

Her plum hair flew in the wind as she ran to her favorite girl, her nose rosy among the salt air. She outstretched her arms when she approached the athlete, engulfing her into hug, nearly knocking the both of them off their feet.

Lynn laughed and shut her eyes in bliss when she felt Marley place multiple fleeting kisses on her cheek. Nevertheless, she ignored the flurried sensation in her palms, choosing to hug the girl back, and match her exuberant smile.

"Oh, you did so good, Lynn!" Marley congratulated, keeping her arm laced with Lynn's.

Lynn had always felt Marley's beaming smile was sparkling. Like a fire; it lit up everything in its path, engrossing Lynn in her whirlwind of euphoria and glee.

"Thanks!" Lynn replied, "It was a close one, i'm just glad I got that last goal in."

They walked beside each other to the parking lot where Lynn's sisters were waiting, Marley never letting go of her grasp on her arm, only leaning further into it.

"I knew you would," Marley boasted, "for you, my dearest, are the most talented, capable player in the game!" she sung in an exaggerated tone.

Lynn rolled her eyes playfully, but in all seriousness, the compliment meant more to her than she would like to admit. Praise from her coaches and friends were great, but from Marley, it was different. It's like Lynn chased her approval more than anyone else, despite her lack of knowledge in the sports department.

By now, Lynn was used to the teasing looks she would get from her sisters whenever they saw her with Marley. After her confession, they gave Lynn no remorse, opting to torment her in secret whenever Marley wasn't looking.

She ignored Luna's raised eyebrows when they got in the van, instead, choosing to relish in the happiness she felt alongside her crush. They sat in the back, sharing hushed whispers the remainder of the ride home.

Lynn reached into her soccer bag, pulling out two slips of paper, waving them in front of Marley's confused eyes.

'"five bucks, showing for "The Sound of Music" at 7:00.'"
