Lynn strided into school with a scowl on her face. Often times, when Lynn won a game the day before, she would relish in the fact. She would come to school the next day, ready to play again, and long for the sensation of winning, taking pleasure in the fact that she could only go up from here.

However, yesterday's events made Lynn take on a sour expression for the next 24 hours. She was more on edge, her siblings noticed. Usually she would kick and push those around her in a lighthearted manner, chuckling while doing so. But today, she gave no apologies, instead, she had a permanent frown on her face, a threat to everyone around her.

Like most days, her eyes were adverted to a certain person, a Royal Woods songwriter. It was no surprise when, during a passing period, she saw the familiar girl, except something was different.

For one; she was wearing a gray cardigan, in contrast to her usual vivacious color scheme. Lynn would look at her in awe when she wore her fluorescent clothing; every item was a pure representation of the girl, from her dangly star fish earrings to the frilly socks she wore.

Secondly; her hair was purple.

Worst of all, it was a deep and beautiful shade of purple. A color that made Lynn look back once she had walked past the girl, stopping in her tracks to watch her retreating figure. She couldn't help but notice how good the color looked, it was a charming and spunky change, but it wasn't Marley.

Marley; a girl who was perfect as she was. Lynn thought she resembled a deer, she had these big umber eyes accompanied by her complementary hair color. Her outfits and various ways of expressing herself was how she was so colorful. The music she emitted spoke volumes, that was what was so interesting about her. You could look at her and think she was a regular girl, but your opinion would surely change once you heard her play the guitar, watching as the words practically wrote themselves in the air from her pink lips.

Lynn was so sure Marley's personality and talent made her such a bright person. She didn't care about an appearance the way other people did; she dressed how she wanted and liked it that way. Lynn liked it when Marley told her about new pieces she acquired while thrifting, it was fascinating how she could craft outfits from the most peculiar articles of clothing.

Maybe that's why Lynn was so bitter about the new change, Marley didn't tell her. And maybe it was Lynn's fault, she was the one who left after all.
