The next morning, a ray of sunshine was passing through the open window, making their faces glow.

Vanitas, as always, woke up first but he couldn't move. Noé was still holding him tightly since when they fell asleep. That wasn't a problem, tho. Because Vanitas was enjoying all this unusual affection, he hated to admit it but he didn't mind it. He didn't mind when Noé was like this. He didn't mind it at all if it was Noé. And it wasn't the first time he felt like this.

He took advantage of the situation to analyse the vampire up close.
He had an idiot face. He was childish, and so oblivious it was annoying.
He always got distracted by little things, ending up lost around Paris.

His hair was glowing from the light and it was almost as blinding as looking directly at the sun. His tan skin was flawless. Vanitas never noticed it before, for obvious reasons and because he was in denial, but Noé actually had a nice face.

Vanitas had so many thoughts in his mind now, and he wasn't thinking straight when he gently tried to caress Noé's cheek, but just as his hand was about to touch him Noé's eyes slowly opened.

Vanitas got startled and stared at him. He was petrified.
'Shit, what am I doing?!' he thought, then he took back his hand.

Noé had just woken up, so he was a bit confused and he didn't really notice Vanitas at first. Then he realized.

"Oh, good morning Vani...VANITAS?!" he immediately stopped hugging the human and turned around, slightly embarrassed.

"Morning...Noé. Why did you turn around..?" He asked with a tint of concern in his voice. He was confused as to why the vampire was acting so shy, when he was the one who wanted to cuddle.

"Because we were too close, so I panicked." Noé was now facing the human, now there was some distance between the two.

"You do realize you slept hugging me like a plushie tonight, right?" Vanitas raised an eyebrow.

"I...yes, but that's a different thing! I was just surprised to find you still here next to me and not some cold void, that's all. You caught me off guard." Noé got up and was now sitting on the bed, Vanitas did the same.

"What do you mean?! I literally couldn't escape from your arms! I swear Murr is so lucky to not sleep with you." Vanitas complained, and that offended the vampire.

"You could have woken me up, you know! But nooo, why would you..." Noé crossed his arms, his face was ridiculous now.

"Oh, come on, I was admiring the view" Vanitas jokingly said to see Noé's reaction, and displayed his best smile.

Noé knew exactly what were the human's intentions, but this time he played along.
"Are you trying to hit on me, Vanitas?"

"What if that was the case?" He had fun in teasing the vampire, so he went a little forward and closed the space between their faces, which were now inches apart.

"That would be a problem, because you're terrible" Noé whispered and smiled warmly.

"Tch." Vanitas rolled his eyes and a growl escaped from his stomach.

"Vanitas, are you hungry?"

"Mh..." he looked away from the vampire because he didn't want to admit it.

"I see...what do you want for breakfast?" Noé asked, a little too excited.

Vanitas stared at his face with a 'dont even think about it' expression. It was like him and Noé shared one braincell, which only worked in his case, because the other was a total idiot.

"Oh please, Vanitas..! You're the only one who knows how to make Tarte tatin!"

"I'm suddenly sleepy again..."

"Oh don't you dare to go back to sleep!" Noé rapidly moved the covers away and stood up.

"Ugh. You're really annoying, you know" Vanitas couldn't bare to sleep without covers, it was too cold for his likings.

Noé jumped up and walked to the kitchen bouncing excitedly.

"You're still in your pajamas"

"So are you, well, if you can call that a pajamas...anyway, we're not going out today so it's fine"

"Wh...yeah no I won't question this one-sided decision." Vanitas headed to the kitchen with the vampire.

In the kitchen...

"Alright! We've got aaaall the ingredients, right Vanitas?" Noè asked with an innocent smile.

"Yes. Now don't touch anything and let me work in peace."

"Awh you're not gonna teach me how to do it?" The vampire seemed sad.

"...I'd rather survive, thanks."

"Hey! My cooking skills are not that bad!!"

"Last time you cooked you almost burned a fucking soup." Vanitas looked at him directly in the eyes.

This caused the vampire to redden and look to the side.
"W...well, I mean it is true but...alright I'll leave it to you..."

"Thank you so much, Noé."  Vanitas went back to preparing the Tarte tatin.

But Noé couldn't ignore the way he said his name.
