As the two of them were still sleeping, Miss Amelia walked into the room to inform them that breakfast was ready.

"Monsieur Noé, Monsieur Vanitas, breakfast is ready!" she said, trying to wake them up.

Vanitas woke up first, rubbed his eyes and yawned. "Goodmorning."

"Goodmorning, Monsieur Vanitas, did you sleep well? I heard that you didn't feel well yesterday..."

"Huh? Oh yeah, well I guess I wasn't in my best form yesterday, but I recovered overnight and now I'm okay"

"I'm glad you're feeling better now. Could you please wake up Monsieur Noé for me?"

"He doesn't seem willing to wake up."

"Do your best then!" she said with a bright smile, then she vanished behind the door.

"Ugh. Noé? Breakfast's ready, wake up." Vanitas said, rolling his eyes.

Noé slowly opened his eyes and got up. "...Vanitas? How are you feeling now?"

Vanitas got surprised, not thinking he'd ask him that.

"Uh...I'm feeling better now."

"Oh that's great!" Noé's eyes lit up in relief.

"Yeah...now, if you don't mind we should go downstairs and have breakfast"

"Oh you're right! Mademoiselle Amelia must be waiting" he suddenly stood up, losing his balance and tripping in the covers. Vanitas facepalmed in front of his clumsy vampire friend.

"Hurry up and get ready, I'll wait outside."

"Oh you don't need to, Vanitas! You can just go down first."

Vanitas was walking towards the door, then stopped and looked back at Noé.

"...I'll wait for you."

Noé knew it was his way of thanking him for the day before, and he also knew it was the best Vanitas could do.

After a few minutes...

The door opened, scaring Vanitas who was beside it, and Noé got out of the room, ready to have breakfast in his candid long coat and with his top hat in his hands. Vanitas forgot his cape, so Noé thought it was a nice thing to take it to him.

"Vanitas you forgot your cape"

"I didn't forget I just couldn't find it."

Noé was suddenly hit with realisation as he remembered that he was the one who took it off of him the night before, carefully hanging it in the closet. "Pardon, I forgot that you usually don't take it off to sleep"

"Yeah...I appreciate you didn't take off my gloves though"

"I know how important they are to you, Vanitas. And I know you don't like showing off your mark."

"..." Vanitas lowered his gaze to avoid Noé's reassuring eyes.

Noé noticed, but didn't say anything about it. "Now that we're ready, let's go have breakfast!"

"Agreed."

The two went downstairs and were greeted by Miss Amelia, Dominique De Sade and the Hellfire Witch, Jeanne, who were sitting at a table talking about some secret things.

"Domiii!!" Noé ran towards the ladies with a bright smile, "What brings you here?"

"Noé! Me and Jeanne had to discuss something, so we thought we'd pass by and eat something"

"Oh right! Good morning, Mademoiselle Jeanne"

"Good morning, Monsieur Noé! Morning, Vanitas" Jeanne greeted them, avoiding eye contact with Vanitas. The human did the same, he wasn't very chatty in the early morning.

"So, how's it going here, Noé?" asked Dominique.

"Pretty well, I'd say. Right, Vanitas?"

Even though he didn't want to chat, Noé still somehow got him to say something because he wanted him to participate in the conversation.

"Yes, I guess you could say so...what about you, ladies?"

Noé noticed something strange.
While Vanitas was supposedly talking to both Dominique and Jeanne, his gaze strictly avoided Jeanne's eyes. 'There's something wrong with him' he thought.

"Excuse me, ladies, I'll bring him back. We need to talk about something, we'll be right back."

"Hey! Leave my arm alone! Noé!" Vanitas protested while the vampire was quite literally dragging him out of the room.

"Listen, Vanitas, is there something wrong?"

"No. Why do you care?"

"Because you're acting strange."

"Not true. I'm always like this, this early in the morning."

"It's 11 a.m."

"Still early"

"No, clearly something happened. Between you and..." he stopped to think about it.

"No. Don't make assumptions, Noé."

"...Jeanne! Yes! Something obviously happened between you two! You've both been avoiding eye contact, of course something has happened!"

"No that's not...!" Vanitas saw Noé's accusatory expression and sighed. "What can I do with you... Ok maybe something happened, but it's not what you're thinking!"

"Uh-huh and my name's Dante"

"Someone called?" Dante popped out of nowhere, scaring the both of them.

"DANTE. WHY ARE YOU HERE?" Vanitas jumped, screaming.

"Oh hello, Dante! What brings you here?" Noé asked, calmly.

Dante bursted out laughing "Oh you guys, you had completely different reactions to my arrival"

"What do you need, Baldy?" asked Vanitas, disdain in his voice.

"Vanitas! Be more kind." Noé scolded him. Vanitas just stared at him in disbelief.

"Anyway, I was just goin' around Paris, gathering information, you know, dhampirs' chores..."

"I see..."

"Dante, would you like to have breakfast with us?" Noé offered him.

"You vampire..." started Vanitas, but was shortly cut off by Dante's response.

"Sure! If you don't mind, there's also Johann here with me, while Riche's out with some friends."

"You're welcome!"

"No you're not."

"Vanitas, please."

Vanitas rolled his eyes again, the morning was turning even worse than it already was for him. "Welcome in..." He said with a dead tone.
