Noè took a moment to answer that, he was staring at the flowers.

"Noè?" Vanitas waved a hand in front of him, thinking he'd gotten hypnotized by some magical spirit.

"Ah, sorry! Yes, I was saying..."
"Asters are often associated with wisdom, loyalty and pure love. While forget-me-nots symbolise a strong desire of not wanting to let go of something or someone, as the name says, and they also represent love...but a specific kind of love, the one that won't disappear even after death. The kind that would turn one-sided if one's lover was to die."

Vanitas was staring at Noé, he never imagined the vampire to be capable of expressing such deep thoughts. He was impressed by his knowledge about the flower language.

However, he was now confused as to where the conversation was going, because Noé was looking at the little flowers in his hands, and the human could sense the atmosphere suddenly changing.

"Ah...I see. Interesting." he tried to say, since nothing else came to mind and his only thought now was why Noé wasn't as cheerful as usual.

"Vanitas...I think you might be wondering why I asked you about places for dates, right?"

He didn't answer. He was looking at the flower in his hand.

Noé was starting to get nervous, did Vanitas realize what was going on?

"Uhm...well I had something to tell you about, so I thought-"

"Archiviste..?"

Noé froze. There could only be one reason the human called him that, but it wasn't what Noé had to tell him.

"Hold on- no, Vanitas it's not what you're thinking!" The vampire quickly cleared the misunderstanding.
"Although I don't know if it's better or worse..."

"Ah, my bad then. Wait what do you mean you don't know-"

He was cut off by the vampire, which was offering him the forget-me-nots.

"Vanitas, I've invited you here to...uh...share my feelings with you."

Vanitas gently took the flowers from Noé's hand, he didn't reply but Noé could imagine what kind of expression was on his face.

Confusion.

Because he thought they were searching for places for a date between the vampire and someone else.

"I know you don't have any interest in people who are interested in you, and I know you don't trust anyone, let alone a vampire who can view memories through people's blood. I know you don't like talking about your past and I won't force you to do so. I'm still not quite sure about what this means but I wanted you to hear it."

Vanitas stayed silent. He was looking down at the flowers, his face covered by his bangs.

"I don't know how to tell you this but you fascinate me, Vanitas. There's something about you that pulls me in and makes me want to know more about who you are. Who you were, who you'll be, who you would have been if you didn't have that mark. I want to stay by your side, I want to demonstrate that you can trust me and I don't want to ever let you go.
I still haven't understood what exactly love is, but I'm afraid this might be something close to that."

The human suddenly looked at his face.
He didn't know what to think. He felt sick. How could somebody like someone like him? Such an obnoxious little freak, a kin of the vampire of the Blue Moon. The original cursed vampire.

"Archiviste what are you saying...?"

'Oh no' Noé thought.

"Is this some trick to get you my blood? That has to be! Why would you ever say something like that to someone like me..?" Vanitas muttered that last part, he didn't believe him.

"Vanitas, no, I'm not trying to drink your blood! I'm genuinely telling you how I've been feeling lately."

"No! You're interested in my blood I know that!"

"I'm interested in you as a person, Vanitas. It's not entirely your blood what's keeping me here."

The human stayed silent, looking at the vampire.

Those purple eyes were locked into his.

Noé's face was different. He was smiling, but he could clearly see the sad undertone his expression had.
"...are you..."

"Don't you think the blue moon is beautiful, Vanitas?"

The look in his eyes softened and that question caught him off guard.

"I don't really like the blue moon. And you know that."

"Right...but I love it. And you know that now."

Vanitas was confused, what did that mean? Why did they suddenly start to talk about the moon?

"Alright, what does that mean?"

"You're my blue moon, Vanitas."

"I'm your blue moon? What the hell are you saying now, you vampire!?"

He wasn't angry, he was just struggling to understand how that could have happened.

"Your eyes, Vanitas. They're blue like the moon, and I can't help but get lost in them. You're just as mysterious as the moon, too. Every time I think of the moon I get reminded of you..."

"...why?" He unconsciously let that question escape, he didn't need an answer, because he had already understood what the vampire meant by all this. And he was scared.

"I think I'm in love with you."

"I..." Vanitas was shocked, Noé's confession left him speechless.

"You know...I've been feeling weird lately. Like, every time you mentioned Jeanne's name I felt a weight on my chest, an aching feeling in my heart. Every time she got to drink your blood, or you two went away in some secret places or on dates. I thought that maybe it was because I didn't have anyone like tha-"

"No one?! Then what about Dominique??" His eyes suddenly sharpened.

Noé's eyes widened in confusion.
"Domi? She's just a dear friend."

"Don't make me laugh! You don't suck your friend's blood like that for fun. Even if you say that for you she's just a friend, there's no doubt she sees you as something more. And I can't believe you really are that oblivious!"

"Huh? No you're... we're... do you really think that..?" The vampire seemed worried.

"I believe it is quite obvious. And it bothers me so much that you're so naïve! Domi here, Domi there, Domi, Domi, Domi! And then you expect me to believe she's just a dear friend!? Oh for god's sake!"

"But...it is true...I only see her as a friend...Vanitas I-"

"She pisses me off. She can get everything she wants, and she has total control over you!"

"Don't you dare say bad things about her."

"See? You're always ready to defend her."

"Yes, because I care deeply about her! What are you trying to say??"

"...I...don't know." The human put a hand on his face and sighed.
"I'm sorry, Noé. I...don't know what to say about this."

"You can take your time! As long as you don't disappear, I'll be waiting for an answer."

'Disappear..? Right. How could I forget such an important thing about myself.  Luna's marking. I'm bound to dissolve in thin air one day.' Vanitas was hit by a strange feeling once again. And this time it was for Noé.

"Vanitas? Are you ok?" Noé gently touched his shoulder.
"Vanitas! Are you crying..?"

The human lifted his head and locked eyes with Noé. His eyes glimmering with tears.

"I'm not crying..." He turned his head. Noé's eyes were staring too much.

The vampire was about to say something, but he decided to just take a step forward and hug the human.

Just as soon as tears fell down Vanitas' face, it started raining.

Vanitas accepted the hug. Even though he wasn't keen on physical touch, he could make an exception for Noé...
