Good Friday

Not only was it the name of the day but the feeling that both girls had when they woke this morning.

For Celeste it was good because Liv was finally home and the apartment felt full again. She wasn't sure why, but this trip had seemed longer than any other and she made a vow to herself that she would never again take Liv for granted. She wasn't going to complain about her drying her knickers in the bathroom or leaving dirty coffee cups, with her distinctive lipsticks mark around the rim, everywhere. Instead she was going to embrace her best friend's quirks, just like she knew Olivia humoured hers.

For Liv it was good because they were eating a McDonald's breakfast with her jet lag not hitting her too bad this time as they sat in their matching Easter Pjs.

"And I got this gorgeous maxi skirt to wear on Sunday..." CeeCee stops filling in Olivia on her week mid-sentence as she watches Liv's perfect eyebrows rise sceptically. "Don't look at me like that!" CeeCee exclaims, her voice raising an octave with every word. "I know I said I wasn't buying anymore clothes but it was from the charity shop so technically I didn't buy anything, I donated." Celeste spoke with complete conviction and a smile spread across her face as she watched Olivia nod avidly; she completely understood CeeCee's logic, and this was precisely why they were best friends.

"Which shop?" Liv's eyes were sparkling; the girls loved browsing charity shops, the local ones were like a treasure trove of designer clothes in perfect condition. "Did they have anything good?"

There hadn't been much. Celeste had gone on her lunch and she knew from experience the really good stuff went first thing to the vultures who waited outside for the store to open but she was happy with her find. All she needed now was Liv to help her pick a top to go with it.

"And that's it really," Celeste shrugged as she finished summing up; it had been an uneventful few days.

"And John?" Olivia asked tentatively, she had heard how Declan's cheesy toast had nothing on hers. How Lucy had taken a couple of inches off her hair and Celeste wasn't sure how she felt about it. How frustrating the new starter CeeCee had been tasked with training at work was. She had even heard about the bloody weather. But nothing about John.

"Sorry," CeeCee sheepishly got to her feet. "But I've waited long enough. I have to do your suitcase." It was practically calling out to her. "If I start now I can have a wash done before we go to the pub."

"Oi!" Olivia looked as sternly as she could at CeeCee, but it was hard when she was so happy to be reunited with her. "Are you guys okay?" She was fearful that things would go back to how they were at the beginning of the year, and she was not here for that.

"Everything's cool," Celeste insisted. "I saw him on Wednesday at the pub and it was fine."

"Are you sure?" Olivia was thoroughly unconvinced.
