There was a time where you managed to control life itself.

You held it in the palm of your hand. You moved its arms and legs, guiding it towards any direction you wanted. You heard no complaints when you controlled it. No cries, no tantrums and no other types of refusal. Life had succumbed to your wishes as a servant would to a king.

You weren't a tyrant to life, however. You were selfless and sympathetic towards it. Because you understood the sacrifices it made to devote to you. You treated life with as much respect as you controlled it.

Then you woke up.

Life was controlling you.

This time, life was a tyrant against you.

You wanted the last day of your first year to be unforgettable.

Unfortunately, your prayers for once had been answered.

You felt Mattheo's grip on your shoulders as he guided you down the hall.

The walls of the hallway encased your being in a suffocating matter. A prolonging silence emitted in the air, just minutes after Mattheo proclaimed to your first year class that the two of you were official.

Your eyes numbly stared at the tiled floor you walked on. With hands clenched into a fist, a wave of exhaustion took over your being. You wished everything was nothing but a nightmare. A long nightmare that would end in any second, before you had to face Mattheo.

Leta's reaction to Mattheo's words scarred your mind. Her face spoke nothing but humiliation. You had never seen the girl hold anything but an innocent smile stretching her lips. Her faltering words as her eyes peered through you and Mattheo made you feel conflicting emotions.

It gave you a somewhat new perspective of Leta, the women who you deemed as cunningly intelligent. She could mask emotions with such ease, making her seem like an emotionless individual with an adoring smile.

Mattheo and Leta were more alike than expected. The two would have been a benefiting duo if circumstances were different. If the two did not share immense hatred towards one another.

Mattheo abruptly patted one side of your shoulder. You snapped your head up, the contact awakening you to the reality of events.

"Hey, [Name]. Are you okay?"

You felt the concern lying underneath his words. His voice that called your name made you close your eyes. The memories of the shameful comments Mikayla shared to you fluttered back to your mind. It was like his words, his own voice had brought you back to the horror of events you experienced.

You turned around harshly, knocking his hands away.

"You have a lot of nerve of asking that question, Mattheo."

The two of you stood in the middle of an empty hallway. The hall was between a wall filled with aligned windows and classrooms that were empty from the absence of 3rd year students. You and Mattheo were alone.

Your eyebrows furrowed as you continued to penetrate your eyes at the male.

Mattheo widened his eyes.

"What? [Na].. What happened?"

"Why didn't you break up with Leta when I told you to?  You waited this long for me to get.. humiliated like this? I should've known things would be like this. I should've— I should have stayed quiet. Do you know what they said!— oh, never mind."

A breath of exhaustion escaped your throat. You tried to stop the words that rumbled out of your lips, however you felt the strong emotions taking control over you.
