Chapter Six

In a world of opulence and grandeur, Clara, the daughter of a prominent businessman, lived a life of luxury. Her father, the owner of vast gold and silver mines, provided her with every comfort imaginable. As the only child and heiress of a powerful family, Clara's life seemed perfect, filled with every indulgence one could dream of. She married Michael, who initially believed he had found in Clara a partner who shared his ambitions and vision for life.

Five years into their marriage, they welcomed their first son, Victor. Life appeared to be on the right track, filled with the perfect expectations they had for themselves. But beneath the surface, there were conflicting emotions and brewing problems. While Michael tried to balance his family commitments with the passion he had buried, his relationship with Clara was deteriorating.

Michael began to notice subtle but disturbing changes in Clara's behavior. She became distant, often disappearing for hours, providing no explanations for her absence. Late-night phone calls, whispered conversations, and a growing sense of secrecy weighed heavily on Michael's heart. He tried to dismiss his suspicions at first, convincing himself it was only the stress of running her father's business. Yet, doubt gnawed at him relentlessly.

One day, while working in his study, Michael heard Clara's phone ringing from their bedroom. She had hurriedly left the house earlier and forgotten it behind. Michael's instincts screamed at him not to touch it, to leave it alone—but the caller ID caught his attention: it was her father's close friend, a man who had been in their lives for years.

Curiosity overpowered his hesitation, and with trembling hands, Michael opened the messages. What he read turned his world upside down. The texts revealed an affair between Clara and this man—plans for secret meetings, tender words exchanged, promises of a future.

Michael felt his breath catch in his throat, the room closing in around him. His hands shook violently as the reality of Clara's betrayal settled in. It wasn't just an affair; it was a life, a world built on lies.

That night, when Clara returned home, there was no screaming match, no dramatic confrontation. Michael simply looked at her, his eyes hollow, and in a quiet, broken voice, asked, "How long?"

Clara didn't flinch. She met his gaze with cold detachment, her words cruel and calculated: "Did you really think I'd stay with you after you stopped giving me what I wanted?"

Her words were a dagger to his heart. Michael, who had built his life around his family, now stood before a woman who saw him as nothing more than a tool. Her lack of remorse, the sheer malice in her tone, left him speechless.
