Jeonghan and Sungcheol weren't party people. They were both introverts who were good at pretending to be extroverts. That was part of the reason why Wonwoo got along with them. However, as he arrived at their small house, he could hear the chatter of various people, meaning it was a full crowd. Wonwoo almost considered turning back around and sending an apology text to the group chat, but before he could, the front door was open and he was seen.
"Won! You made it!" Jeonghan exclaimed.
He was wearing a black silk button-down, similar to the one he had worn to the club. His long dark hair was tied prettily and he had a natural glow about him. It seemed he was still riding the high from his engagement. Suddenly, Wonwoo felt guilty for even thinking of ditching the party. He couldn't do that to two of his dearest friends. They only wanted to share their happiness with him, so he smiled. He felt self-conscious about the fact he had come empty-handed against Jeonghan's wishes. He didn't have any alcohol at home and he was almost late to start with. He didn't want to stop by the store and make himself even later. Besides, he was sure Jeonghan and Sungcheol would have plenty. Jeonghan didn't seem to notice as he hugged Wonwoo tightly.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world. Besides," Wonwoo said as he pulled away, 'If I didn't come, I'm sure you'd hunt me down and kill me." He half-joked.
Jeonghan didn't deny it, only laughed as he pushed him inside. "Help yourself. There are plenty of drinks and snacks. I'm sure you'll have no problem getting around. After all, you've been here many times."
From inside, someone called Jeonghan's name and he excused himself, leaving Wonwoo alone. He sat on their sofa and looked around at the number of people in attendance. He was taken aback by them all. He had no idea that Sungcheol and Jeonghan knew so many people, but it made sense. They were kind, fun, and wonderful. Even Wonwoo knew he was lucky to be their friend. As he observed the party, he felt the sofa shift as someone sat beside him. He was about to move, in case he was in someone's way, but stopped when he saw it was Sungcheol. Wonwoo patted his friend on the shoulder.
"Congratulations." He said sincerely.
"Thank you, and thank you for coming. I know parties aren't your thing. I told Jeonghan that I was fine with a small dinner, but he insisted on having a big party before we became adults for good." He explained. "I couldn't argue with that, nor could I deny him anything. Besides, he pointed out the family conflicts and we decided that this was best. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, it means a lot that you're here. You're our best friend. It would be all wrong without you."
Wonwoo's smile grew wider. He was under the impression his face was about to tear apart if he got any happier.
"I'm glad I could be a part of this, but what made you change your mind?" He asked. "I mean, you used to be so set on never getting married."
Sungcheol sighed but the smile remained on his face as he stared at something off in the distance. Wonwoo followed his line of vision to see Jeonghan talking across the room with a group of women, his colleagues from the daycare he worked at. They were all laughing and Jeonghan looked handsome as he tried to contain his laughter. Seconds later, Sungcheol's attention returned to Wonwoo.
"We were watching a movie one night and I couldn't focus on it because I was so entranced by him. I would laugh when he laughed. I felt happy just looking at him. It was as if I was seeing him and our relationship in a new light. I never wanted the moment to end. I wanted more like it. I wanted to be by his side and have him by mine. Suddenly, all the excuses I had made for not getting married seemed irrelevant. He was talking about his dream wedding and for the first time, I felt excited too, as if I had the same dream. I guess love makes you do crazy things." He concluded.
