- two years later-
"So, are you ready?" Mingyu asked as he finished zipping up the last suitcase.
In just two days, Mingyu and Wonwoo were getting married in Australia. After months of extensive research, it was the middle ground they agreed upon. Surprisingly enough, it had been the easiest part of planning the wedding. The rest was a headache and a nightmare.
"After two years, you think I would be," Wonwoo replied as he pulled the suitcase to the front door. "It still doesn't feel real." He admitted.
Mingyu followed him into the living room. "I know what you mean. I almost told them I'd see them at work tomorrow."
Wonwoo let out an amused laugh. "I don't have that problem. Sungcheol, Jeonghan, and especially Soonyoung won't let me forget. I think Jeonghan is more excited for our wedding than he was for his own."
Mingyu was intrigued. "Is that even possible? Didn't he sustain on just coffee for like a month before his?"
Wonwoo nodded as he shuttered remembering that terrifying time years ago. It was hard to believe that the same friends who used to drag him to clubs were parents now. Sunwoo was nearly two and was the center of their world. Danbi, who was turning seven soon, enjoyed having another child in the group and was still bugging Mingyu and Wonwoo about a sibling. Of course, the two had explained, to the best of their ability, that she was enough and she had them to herself, but it wasn't convincing enough for her. She wanted a little brother like Sunwoo. Mingyu tried to reassure Wonwoo that she would most likely grow out of it and realize that being an only child had its benefits, but Wonwoo knew better. Being around the father and daughter duo for the last few years had taught him a lot. He knew that both of them were stubborn and determined. It was likely they'd hear about having a sibling up until her graduation.
"Did you call to check on Danbi?" Mingyu asked next.
As they were preparing for everything, Jeonghan and Sungcheol offered to watch Danbi and bring her to Australia with them, so Mingyu and Wonwoo could concentrate on the wedding and each other. At first, the couple were skeptical. Jeonghan and Sungcheol had a baby that needed a lot of attention. Adding another child along with traveling, sounded like a nightmare. However, they reassured them they wouldn't mind and reminded them that Danbi was practically like their child too as they frequently babysat her. Mingyu and Wonwoo couldn't deny them after that. It was that or send her with Soonyoung and Jihoon and Wonwoo immediately vetoed that idea. No telling what personality should would have had after spending time alone with those two.
Wonwoo nodded. "Jeonghan said everything was going smoothly. Danbi is helping him with the baby. She barely lets him or Sungcheol do anything."
Mingyu smiled a proud smile that could only belong to a father. "That's good. One less we have to worry about."
Wonwoo agreed. Upon his request, they double-checked everything before they even left the house. Thanks to both of their extensive planning, they went through the airport with ease and both fell asleep on the flight with ease. In the past, Wonwoo would have forced himself to stay awake, cautious of the strangers around him and how he could be perceived. Now, thanks to Mingyu, Xanax, and a large therapy bill, Wonwoo had slowly stopped caring about what others thought of him. He could hold Mingyu's hand in public without a second thought and he didn't care if their neighbors gossiped about them. He even found it funny. He was the happiest he had ever been and no one could take that away from him, not anymore. Sometimes the dark and paranoid thoughts snuck their way back in, but Wonwoo learned how to deal with them healthily. He simply acknowledged them and realized they had no true power over him. The new mindset led to better mental health and being able to fall asleep on his fiance's shoulder without a second thought.
