On Jungkook's 18th birthday, the day that should have marked his coming of age, he felt himself die a little inside. The evening had started off with laughter and smiles, friends gathered to celebrate, and for a brief moment, Jungkook allowed himself to believe that maybe, just maybe, this year would be different. Maybe Taehyung would finally see him-not as his little Koo, not as his best friend, but as someone who loved him more than anything in the world.

But reality has a cruel way of breaking even the strongest illusions.

The night was winding down when Taehyung suddenly pulled Jungkook aside. There was a tremor in Taehyung's voice, a crack in the facade that he always wore so confidently. Without a word, Taehyung wrapped his arms around Jungkook, burying his face in Jungkook's chest. And then, without warning, Taehyung began to cry.

It wasn't just any cry. It was a deep, heart-wrenching sob that shook his entire body, the kind of cry that only comes from a pain so intense it feels like it's ripping you apart from the inside. And all Jungkook could do was hold him, tightening his grip around Taehyung as if that could somehow take away his pain.

But as Taehyung's tears soaked through Jungkook's shirt, the words finally spilled out between his sobs: "Jimin...he broke up with me..."

The words cut through Jungkook like a knife, sharp and merciless. He could barely process them, his mind reeling from the shock. Taehyung wasn't crying for him; he was crying for someone else. Someone who wasn't there to comfort him, someone who had been the one to break Taehyung's heart in the first place. And that someone was Park Jimin.

Jungkook's chest tightened painfully as he held Taehyung even closer, trying to keep himself from falling apart. The boy who had been his first love, his first crush, his best friend, was now sobbing for another man in his arms. Jungkook wanted to scream, to shout at the unfairness of it all, to demand why it couldn't be him that Taehyung loved, that Taehyung cried for. But he couldn't. Instead, he did the only thing he could do-he held Taehyung tighter and let him cry.

As Taehyung's tears continued to flow, Jungkook felt himself breaking piece by piece. He knew that every tear Taehyung shed was one more reminder that his love would never be returned, that the one person he had always loved would never see him in the same way. Taehyung's heart belonged to Jimin, and Jungkook was just a bystander, a comfort in a moment of vulnerability, nothing more.

Internally, Jungkook was shattered. His birthday, once filled with hope and the faint possibility of happiness, was now the day he watched the boy he loved cry for someone else. And no matter how much it hurt, he couldn't let Taehyung see his pain. He couldn't show how much it was killing him inside.

So, as Taehyung cried in his arms, Jungkook whispered soothing words, running his fingers through Taehyung's hair, offering the only comfort he could. He put on a brave face, suppressing the tears that threatened to spill over, and kept his voice steady. Because even if it meant sacrificing his own happiness, Jungkook would always be there for Taehyung. Even if it meant dying a little inside every time.Even though Taehyung was older and an inch or two taller, in that moment, curled up in Jungkook's arms, he looked so small, so vulnerable-like a perfect little spoon seeking comfort. The way his body fit against Jungkook's, it was almost as if he was meant to be there, fragile and in need of protection. And while Jungkook held him, it seemed as if the roles had reversed.

Here was Jungkook, big and buff, his muscles strong from countless hours of boxing, the very image of masculinity and strength. Yet inside, he was soft and broken, his heart aching with a pain so deep that it threatened to consume him whole. And Taehyung, despite being the older one, despite being the one who had always looked out for Jungkook, was now the one needing comfort, needing to be held and reassured that everything would be okay.
