The lonely night

Jungkook eventually pulled himself off the cold ground, wiping his tear-streaked face with the back of his hand. The heaviness in his chest didn't subside, but he knew he couldn't stay hidden in the alley forever. The night air felt cool against his skin, a stark contrast to the warmth of the tears still clinging to his cheeks. His steps were slow and deliberate as he made his way back home, each one carrying the weight of his unspoken heartbreak.

As he walked through the quiet streets, his mind wandered to Taehyung. The memory of his laughter, the way his eyes sparkled when he smiled, and the sound of his voice-all of it played on repeat in Jungkook's mind, like a broken record. It was painful to think about how easily Taehyung had dismissed his feelings, how casually he had mentioned his relationship with someone else. The realization that Taehyung had someone else to laugh with, someone else to share his secrets with, made Jungkook's heart ache even more.

By the time Jungkook reached his house, the vibrant energy from earlier had completely drained away. The house was quiet, the aftermath of the party leaving an eerie stillness. He slipped inside, careful not to wake anyone, and headed straight to his room. Once the door clicked shut behind him, he let out a shaky breath, feeling the weight of the day press down on him even more.

Jungkook's room, usually his sanctuary, felt different tonight. The familiar surroundings-the posters on the walls, the bed he had slept in for years, the desk cluttered with his drawings-felt alien, almost suffocating. He stood in the middle of the room, unsure of what to do next. The birthday gifts that had once brought him joy now seemed meaningless, each one a reminder of how the day had started so perfectly and ended so tragically.

Unable to face the reality of his feelings, Jungkook collapsed onto his bed, burying his face into the pillow. The softness provided little comfort as he let out a muffled sob, the tears he had tried so hard to suppress finally flowing freely. He cried for what felt like hours, the weight of his emotions pouring out of him. Each tear was a release, but it didn't make the pain any less intense. The sorrow that gripped his heart felt unending, a dark cloud that refused to dissipate.

In the silence of his room, Jungkook's mind spiraled into thoughts he had been too afraid to confront. He thought about all the moments he had shared with Taehyung, the countless times they had laughed together, the secrets they had exchanged. He had always seen those moments as special, as signs that maybe, just maybe, Taehyung felt the same way. But now, those memories felt like cruel reminders of a love that had never been returned.

Jungkook wondered when he had started feeling this way, when his admiration for Taehyung had turned into something deeper. Was it the way Taehyung's smile could light up a room? Or the way he always knew how to make Jungkook laugh, even on his worst days? Or maybe it was the way Taehyung had always been there for him, no matter what. Jungkook didn't know when his feelings had changed, but he knew that they were real. They were the kind of feelings that stayed with you, that defined who you were.

But now, those feelings felt like a curse. Loving Taehyung had brought him so much happiness, but now it only brought pain. The realization that Taehyung saw him as nothing more than a friend, that he didn't even consider Jungkook's feelings as real, was devastating. Jungkook felt like he had lost a part of himself, the part that had always held onto the hope that one day, Taehyung would see him as more than just his little Koo.

As the night dragged on, Jungkook's sobs turned into quiet sniffles. He felt exhausted, both physically and emotionally. The weight of his heartache left him feeling empty, like there was nothing left inside of him. The love he had carried for so long, the hope he had nurtured, had been shattered, leaving him feeling broken and alone.

Jungkook finally rolled over onto his back, staring up at the ceiling. The darkness of the room felt overwhelming, but he didn't have the energy to do anything about it. His mind was numb, too tired to think, too drained to feel anything but the dull ache in his chest. He felt like he was drowning, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't find a way to the surface.

He couldn't stop the intrusive thoughts that filled his mind, thoughts of Taehyung with someone else, someone who wasn't him. The image of Taehyung laughing, smiling, and being happy with another person was too much to bear. Jungkook felt a fresh wave of tears well up, but he forced them back. He didn't want to cry anymore. He didn't want to feel this pain anymore.

But the pain was there, and it wasn't going away. Jungkook knew that he couldn't just forget about his feelings for Taehyung. They were too deep, too ingrained in who he was. But he also knew that he couldn't keep holding onto the hope that Taehyung would one day feel the same way. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but Jungkook knew that he had to accept it. He had to let go, even if it felt like the hardest thing he had ever done.

As the first light of dawn began to creep into his room, Jungkook closed his eyes, finally succumbing to the exhaustion that had been building up inside of him. His heart still ached, but sleep offered a temporary escape, a brief reprieve from the pain. He knew that when he woke up, the heartache would still be there, but for now, he could forget. Just for a little while, he could forget the pain of loving someone who would never love him back.

And so, Jungkook drifted off to sleep, his birthday ending not with the joy and celebration he had hoped for, but with the sorrow of a love that would never be.
