As they lay there on the couch, still wrapped in the comfort of their long-lost sleepover routine, Jungkook broke the silence, his voice soft and careful. "Tae, there's something I wanted to tell you."
Taehyung shifted slightly, lifting his head to look at Jungkook, curiosity flickering in his eyes. "What is it, Koo?"
Jungkook took a breath, the excitement in his heart tempered by the weight of what he was about to share. "I got admitted to Yonsei University."
Taehyung's smile faltered just for a second, but he recovered quickly. "Yonsei? That's amazing, Koo! I'm so proud of you."
Jungkook smiled at Taehyung's words, but he didn't miss the subtle change in his expression. Taehyung had always been transparent with him. Jungkook knew that there had been a part of Taehyung that had hoped-had assumed-they'd end up together at Seoul National University. But now, with Jungkook going to a different university, that possibility seemed a little farther away.
Taehyung sat up, his smile still present, but his eyes a bit sadder than before. "I guess I just thought..." he trailed off, looking away for a moment, before turning back to face Jungkook. "I thought maybe we'd be together again. At SNU."
Jungkook sat up too, guilt washing over him as he saw the look in Taehyung's eyes. He reached out, giving Taehyung's hand a squeeze. "I'm still going to be close, Tae. Yonsei isn't far, and I'll visit all the time."
Taehyung forced a smile, nodding. "Yeah, I know. I just... I guess I was looking forward to us being together like before. But it's okay, Koo. You deserve this. I'm happy for you."
They sat there in a quiet understanding, the warmth of their closeness still lingering, but with a bittersweet edge. Both knowing that even though things were changing, some things-like them-would always stay the same.
Taehyung, still holding Jungkook's hand, gave it one final squeeze before he lay back down, resting his head on Jungkook's shoulder again. They didn't need to say anything more.

A few days had passed since Jungkook told Taehyung about his admission to Yonsei University, and though Taehyung had smiled and encouraged him, there was a lingering sadness in his chest that he couldn't quite shake. He had really hoped that they would be together again, just like when they were kids. But as always, Taehyung kept his feelings to himself, not wanting to burden Jungkook. He hadn't noticed the mischievous glint in Jungkook's eyes that night, too focused on the bittersweet emotions swirling inside him.
Weeks later, Taehyung was on campus at Seoul National University, helping guide the freshers through their first day. He had been assigned to the welcoming committee and had eagerly volunteered, hoping to make the newcomers feel comfortable. It was the usual bustling chaos of introductions, campus tours, and answering endless questions about life at SNU.
As he was explaining the location of one of the buildings to a nervous-looking student, he caught sight of a familiar figure in the crowd, someone he knew better than anyone-Jungkook.
For a moment, Taehyung stood frozen in place, blinking as if his eyes were playing tricks on him. He blinked again. No, it was definitely Jungkook. He was walking with a group of students, casually blending in with the crowd like he belonged there. Taehyung's mind raced."Wait... what?"
Jungkook was supposed to be at Yonsei University. Hadn't he just told Taehyung that he had been accepted there?
Without wasting a second, Taehyung's eyes widened as realization hit him. "That little liar!" he muttered under his breath, his legs already moving before he could think twice. He abandoned the group of freshers he was helping and started sprinting after Jungkook, weaving through the crowd like a madman.
