The bond between Lucy and Erin continued to strengthen as the weeks went on. Training sessions were intense, and the chemistry on the field translated into a deepening friendship off the field. Erin's upbeat nature and sense of humor were a balm for Lucy's wounded heart, and she found herself looking forward to their time together more and more.

One evening, after a particularly grueling day at training, Erin suggested they grab dinner at a cozy little pub she knew in the city. Lucy agreed, eager for a night out to take her mind off things.

The pub was warm and inviting, a stark contrast to the chill in the air outside. They found a table in the corner, away from the noise of the bar, and settled in with a couple of pints. The conversation flowed easily, and for the first time in weeks, Lucy felt herself relaxing completely.

"So, how are you finding London?" Erin asked between sips of her drink.

"It's... different," Lucy admitted. "I'm still getting used to it. It's not Barcelona, that's for sure."

"Yeah, I can imagine," Erin said, nodding. "I've never lived abroad, but I've heard it's a big adjustment coming back to the UK."

"It is," Lucy agreed. "But it's also nice to be closer to family. I guess I just need to give it more time."

Erin smiled, her eyes warm. "Well, if you ever need someone to just hang out, I'm always here."

"Thanks, Erin," Lucy said, genuinely touched by the offer. "I really appreciate that."

As the night went on, the atmosphere became more relaxed, and the conversation turned more personal. They shared stories from their pasts, their struggles, and their dreams for the future. Lucy found herself opening up to Erin in a way she hadn't expected, and it felt good to share her thoughts and feelings with someone who seemed to understand her so well.

At one point, Erin reached across the table and placed her hand on Lucy's. The touch was light, almost casual, but it sent a jolt of electricity through Lucy's body. She looked up at Erin, and for a moment, the world seemed to fade away. There was something in Erin's eyes, something that made Lucy's heart race.

The moment was broken by the sound of laughter from a nearby table, and they both pulled back, the spell broken. But the tension between them remained, hanging in the air like an unspoken question.

As they walked back to Lucy's apartment later that night, the city streets quiet and empty, Lucy couldn't shake the feeling that something had shifted between them. Erin walked beside her, their shoulders brushing occasionally, and every touch sent a thrill through Lucy's body.

When they reached her building, they stopped outside, neither of them wanting the night to end.

"I had a really great time tonight," Lucy said, her voice softer than usual.

"Me too," Erin replied, her gaze lingering on Lucy's face.

For a moment, they just stood there, the silence between them charged with unspoken feelings. Lucy could feel her heart pounding in her chest, her thoughts a whirlwind of confusion and desire. She knew she was standing on the edge of something, something that could change everything.

But before she could overthink it, Erin leaned in and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to Lucy's cheek.

"Goodnight, Lucy," Erin whispered, her breath warm against Lucy's skin.

"Goodnight," Lucy managed to reply, her voice barely audible.

Erin gave her a small, knowing smile before turning and walking away, leaving Lucy standing there, her heart racing and her mind reeling. She watched Erin disappear into the night, the kiss still burning on her cheek, and she knew that things between them were no longer as simple as they had been.

As Lucy climbed the stairs to her apartment, her thoughts were a tangled mess. She couldn't deny the growing attraction she felt for Erin, but the guilt that came with it was overwhelming. Ona was still so fresh in her mind, and the idea of moving on felt like a betrayal.

But as she lay in bed that night, staring up at the ceiling, Lucy couldn't help but wonder if this was exactly what she needed. Maybe Erin was the fresh start she had been searching for, the chance to move forward. Or maybe she was just complicating things even more.

Either way, Lucy knew that her life was about to get a lot more complicated, and she wasn't sure if she was ready for it.
