Lucy stood in her apartment, staring at the closed door for what felt like an eternity. The sound of the door clicking shut echoed in her ears, and panic surged through her veins. Ona was really leaving—walking out of her life. She couldn't just let it end like this, with so much unresolved between them.

Before she could think twice, Lucy grabbed her jacket and keys, rushing out the door. She had to catch Ona before she made it to the airport. She couldn't let her leave without at least trying to make things right.

The cold London air hit her as she stepped outside, but Lucy didn't care. She ran down the street, her mind racing as fast as her feet. She dialed Ona's number, her heart pounding in her chest as it rang and rang, but Ona didn't pick up.

"Come on, Ona, please," Lucy muttered to herself, willing her phone to light up with a response. But it never came.

By the time Lucy arrived at the airport, she was out of breath, her heart racing. She scanned the crowd, frantically looking for any sign of Ona. People rushed past her, oblivious to the turmoil raging inside her.

Lucy's phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out, hope rising in her chest, only to see a message from Erin asking where she was. Guilt gnawed at her, but she shoved the phone back into her pocket. She had to focus on finding Ona.

And then, through the crowd, she saw her—Ona standing by the gate, staring at the flight information on the screen. Her shoulders were hunched, her posture tense, and Lucy could see the pain etched on her face even from a distance.

"Ona!" Lucy shouted, her voice carrying over the noise of the airport.

Ona turned, her eyes widening when she saw Lucy rushing toward her. For a brief moment, Lucy thought she saw relief flicker across Ona's face, but it was quickly replaced by confusion.

"What are you doing here?" Ona asked, her voice tight.

Lucy stopped in front of her, gasping for breath. "I... I couldn't just let you leave like that. We need to talk."

"There's nothing left to say, Lucy," Ona replied, her tone firm but laced with sadness. "I told you, it's over."

Tears welled up in Lucy's eyes as she shook her head. "I don't want it to be over, Ona. I don't know how to fix this, but I can't let you go without trying."

Ona's expression softened, her resolve faltering. "What do you want me to say? That we'll make long distance work? That we'll figure it out somehow? You already told me that wasn't possible."

Lucy's throat tightened. "I don't know if we can make it work. I don't want to lie to you, but I still love you, Ona. I can't just forget about everything we've been through."

Ona's eyes filled with tears, and she looked away, her voice trembling. "But you did, Lucy. You did when you slept with Erin."

The words hit Lucy like a punch to the gut, and she had no defense. She had betrayed Ona's trust, and no matter how much she loved her, she couldn't erase that.

"I'm sorry," Lucy whispered, her voice breaking. "I'm so sorry."

Ona wiped away a tear, her expression filled with pain. "I know you are. But sometimes, love isn't enough."

For a long moment, they just stood there, the reality of the situation sinking in. Finally, Ona gave Lucy one last, lingering look before turning toward the gate.

"I have to go," she said softly. "Goodbye, Lucy."

And just like that, Ona walked away, leaving Lucy standing there, her heart shattered. Tears streamed down her face as she watched Ona disappear into the crowd, knowing this time, she wasn't coming back....
