The group were heading back to the main house, having not found Sameer. All they had found that was of any significance to Violet was the parasite crawling out of that bunny. The experiments weren't shocking, except perhaps it being done on animals and not humans. Perhaps that human experiment was already walking beside her, Billy holding back his strain walking up the hill. They already knew what happened to a person who had taken too much compound V, Violet wondered if the V in his system would be enough to make him affected by the virus.
Staying at the back of the group still, Violet teetered with what that bunny meant for the two of them. It answered her queries about how he killed Ezekiel... It wasn't him. It was whatever was inside of him, breaking out. Was it protection? Or had it just decided that it wasn't the right moment for Billy to die, the same as Violet letting Homelander live. A parasite only lasts so long before it tries to take over, and Billy's sickness was only getting worse. She might have to start working a little quicker if she wanted Billy to pass believing she was going to be okay.
He leaned a hand on her shoulder, halted by Stan at the front. The old man also couldn't handle the walk, the tedious hill and bitter cold. Violet reached up for his hand, holding it down into herself. As the sun was beginning to touch the tips of the forest trees, Violet huffed. Part of the day had to have been wasted, wasted on finding whoever Victoria was so obsessed with. No one seemed to have any objections also, which made her more frustrated as when have they ever waited? The logical thing to do was take, why did they have to wait?
A crashing sounded behind them, Violet and Billy slowly turning around to a large bull bellowing at them. The wooden fence had crumbled around it, and Violet broke out a nervous smile as it scraped it's foot across the dirt.
"Is that a fucking V'd-up bull?" They heard M.M. question further ahead.
"Off we go, nice and slow," Billy said, holding a hand up in front of Violet, who phased in and out, her appearance flickering.
But before the bull could take off, charging towards them, a heard of flying sheep swooped down and grabbed it, launching it into the air. They gasped, watching as the sheep ripped the bull's body into pieces, blood around their mouths. Blood rained down, and just when Violet thought there couldn't be anything worse than what she had already seen, she was proven wrong. Her head turned to Victoria, who's scared expression flicked between her and the scene. They exchanged a look, Violet silently wondering how she could stand there so terrified by her own actions.
"Run!" Billy scream, spinning and taking Violet with him.
He held tightly on her arm, partly having an urge to protect her and also because he was frantically hoping she would protect him. The sheep screeched at the sight of them, dropping the bull as they ran. They all shouted, sprinting on their heels for the closest cover. Billy was a fast runner, even for someone who was dying, or was Violet aiding his heels? Billy wasn't sure, just that he wanted to get Violet and himself away from the gore before it even thought of dripping onto them.
Victoria's security wasn't as clever, trying to dive away but instead being swept up and ripped apart. Another point Violet could make to Victoria, her snotty security she waved around were useless after all. But they had no time, they had more pressing matters than Violet's "I told you so". Body parts splattered onto the ground around them, painting the snow a sickly red. M.M. had managed to make it to one of the barns, heaving it open for them to run inside. They clambered in, Violet helping him shut it once they were all counted for. It loudly fell together, just cutting off a sheep before it could take a bite out of their faces.
Stepping back, Violet panted, immediately turning to Billy to make sure he was okay too.
"I can't believe this is fucking happening to me again," Frenchie exclaimed, and putting her hands on her knees, Violet almost scrambled to ask what the fuck he meant. Instead she just sent a confused look to Kimiko, who shared it.
