Taylor's pov

" oh my god " I mutter, barely above a whisper. There was no way. I couldn't be, could I? I mean, I definitely could be, it's without a doubt possible but seeing it now, in black and white, right in front of me, I couldn't fathom that this was reality. Right here, right now. The timing: couldn't have been better really, I'd finished the eras tour a little over 6 months ago and Travis was planning to retire after this season, it was really the perfect time.

Travis was out golfing with Jason, and he wouldn't be home till around 5pm so I had a little bit of time to plan something for him. I pulled out a piece of paper, writing the news on it, neatly in my hand writing and tucking it under Travis's side of the bed. I grinned at the thought of him reading it, wondering how he'd react, I hoped – at least I think I knew – that he would be happy, as was I but I couldn't help but still have a few butterflies about it. I started on our dinner, making us spaghetti and a sauce, super basic but I knew we'd both enjoy it, I paired it was some garlic bread, as for some reason I was craving it. Usually, I wasn't a fan of doubling up on carbs but I really felt like it tonight.

" hey baby " I heard my favourite voice from the door, making me smile, as I made my way to greet him, he was all sweaty and gross from playing golf all day, but I had to say, he looked pretty hot all in his golf gear. I pulled him in to kiss me, and he chuckled reciprocating the kiss, asking how my day had been. " you feeling better today? The bug passed? " Travis asked, his eyes full of concern.

" mhm, no sickness today, thank goodness " I told him as he kissed my forehead " I cooked us dinner, but it's fine if you wanna shower first " I suggested, instantly regretting it in case he saw the surprise, I knew I tucked it under his duvet, but what if he went under his pillow to get his pyjamas out or something.

" yeah I might do, I feel gross " he nods, turning to go upstairs

" oh babe, do you mind using the main bathroom, I just cleaned ours " I lied, not wanting to risk anything.

" oh uh sure, I guess. But you know babe, when you clean things, they don't stay like that forever " he joked, and I gulped, nodding in agreement

" yeah I know, but your all dirty and you'll get mud up all the clean walls " I exaggerated, he wasn't really that dirty but he did have mud and sweat painted on his lower legs.

" I'm only teasing baby. I'll use the other bathroom, don't worry " Travis chuckled, turning on his heels and heading upstairs. That was close really. He could've asked a lot more questions. I'm just glad he knew I sort off had OCD when it came to these things, and so it wasn't out of the ordinary for me to make such a random request.

Once Travis had showered, we sat down and enjoyed dinner together, me eating 4 slices of garlic bread which was completely new for my appetite but I enjoyed every single one. Travis shooed me into the living room to rest after that, declaring that he would clear up the kitchen, I was grateful for his offer, needing a moment to sit down.

" hey benj boy " I cooed as my little fluffy baby jumped onto my lap, wanting his tummy to be scratched. " we're gonna tell daddy a big surprise huh? Do you think he'll like it? " I got no response, which I suppose would be obvious when you're talking to an incompetent cat, but nevertheless I still enjoyed speaking to him like a human bestie.
